She leaned forward and pulled it out of the rest books. The book was heavy and thick, with a thick black leather cover. She tried to open it but it wouldn't budge. "Strange",she whispered. The book wasn't locked or glued together. She could see it through the pages. There was a purple coloured stone at the front cover and she wondered if it was what held the book together.

" I choked out, clutching the manuscript against my chest as I backed away until my spine hit the cold stone wall. ​Gabriel smiled—a slow, terrifying curve of his lips as he stepped into the dim beam of light. ​"I told you before, little bird," Gabriel whispered, reaching out to take the corner of the parchment from my trembling hands. "There is nowhere in this town where my shadow can not reach."

I look around but I don't see anything. “They are getting closer, will you follow?” he starts to get demanding a little as I sit looking around for the giggling. “Who's getting closer?” I ask the man. Just as I finish asking the man wraps his arms around me from behind the tree, clamping his hands together, holding me right on the rough bark of the tree. “Let me go!” I yell hoping he would listen. The sound of giggling gets louder as his grass gets tighter. I see a light from a flame appear from behind me lighting up everything in front of me. I can see 3 shadows appear on the wall of the building. They still giggle as they get closer to me. I struggle to break free of the man's grasp but I'

Toya lifted her brow and Wendy bit her lip. “I know you are saying something when you point at the rock in your hand here. Aim. But I don’t think either of us gets it.” Toya tilted her head in confusion, looking at my hands and I nearly smacked myself. “This is my Book of Shadows. It holds the spells of my family. I’m going over the ingredients and there are some random herbs we are missing and we should be able to find them at a regular store. Thyme, rosemary, stuff like that.”

The Book of Shadows is far larger than she imagined, a massive, imposing presence that seems to hum with a life of its own. It radiates an energy that is both intoxicating and terrifying, a potent mix of promise and peril. Demika sits cross-legged on the floor of her room, the only light coming from the flickering candles she has arranged in a circle around her. The shadows dance on the walls, their movements almost hypnotic, as if they are alive, as if they are watching her.
