Olivia POV Two enormous crimson eyes slowly opened in the darkness. In the eerie silence of the Void, those eyes burned like glowing embers, blazing a deep crimson against the endless black. They did not blink. They simply stared at me, cold and emotionless. The eyes shifted. Slowly. Deliberately. Only the crimson glow moved through the darkness while the rest of its body remained swallowed by the black void, as though the darkness itself refused to reveal what lay beneath. I stood rooted to the spot.

He leaned closer to the glass, squinting at his own reflection. For a single, sickening heartbeat, the reflection didn't match the motion. The person in the glass remained entirely still while he moved his head. And then, the whites of his eyes vanished. It wasn't a slow bleed of color or a trick of the dim lighting; it was an instantaneous snap, as if an internal shutter had dropped behind his corneas, leaving two solid, lightless pools of absolute black. No irises. No sclera. Just a pair of empty, infinite voids staring back out at him from his own skull. Julian froze, his breath hitching in his throat.

But I believed he was not some gruesome looking person before all these injuries had been inflicted on him. He twitched some more, and I saw his eyelashes flutter a little. A plume rose up in the air, turning into a cloud of smoke, the dying embers crackling and sputtering out in a moment. The man took a few deep breaths suddenly, as if the air around him did not contain enough oxygen. And then his eyes flew open. I took a step back to see the eyes…or whatever that was. There was no iris nor pupil. Everything inside was pitch black.

" She finally moved and sat down opposite me. She was an empty vessel, a shell. She had nothing but hollow eyes staring at me blankly. "Why?"

I said “We are your admirers, we wanted to see you with our eyes, the prophecy is true,” “What are you talking about, what prophecy?” I said. This can’t be happening. They could not have known my secret. It was guarded so well all these years. It must be a prank on me. She didn’t answer, simply stared at me with her smile that gave me the creeps. Then she did something that made me reach for the door handle. She took off her glasses and instead of having eyes her eye sockets were empty. How the hell could she see me?

My head slowly turned up and when my eyes met hers at last, I almost drowned In the cavernous depths I was disposed to just by staring at them. Her eyes were so empty, devoid of life and sunken and it broke my heart more, even though I was sure there was nothing else left to shatter.

It didn't resemble the cynical look he had in his eyes before. This time, it seemed more like longing. It was as if he wanted nothing more than to fill up all the emptiness he probably felt. Before I could make any comment, the look disappeared from his eyes. It was immediately replaced with a purposeful gaze. “Let's get started then”, he said. Don't want anybody knowing. After I finished, I stood and looked at myself in the mirror. My green-blue eyes hold no life; they are dull, lifeless, with no shine in them whatsoever. They used to be so bright, full of life and happiness, but now they are dead; there is nothing in them, and they look so empty. My face is too thin and pale from the little food and dehydration. My clothes are too big and baggy because I'm too thin. Overall I'm not the most appealing to look at.

The air in the room shifted, growing heavier. “Ava,” Luna prompted, raising her eyebrow. Ava exhaled sharply, sitting up straighter. “Something’s off.” Luna looked at her in confusion, “What do you mean?” Ava pointed at the screen. “Look at his eyes.” Luna did. And then she saw it. There was no reflection in his pupils. No catchlight from the bright studio lights, no mirrored image of the set. Just a void, deep, endless, like looking into something that didn’t belong.

Fallon tore her eyes away for one second and when she looked back, the room was empty. Except for the faintest imprint on the glass wall. A smudge. Like fingers had pressed there from the other side.
