This was the Abyss. The path ended sooner than I expected. My foot slid against gravel and pebbles skittered down, bouncing into emptiness. I crouched, stretching my hand outward, and felt nothing but air. My stomach knotted as I realized I was standing at the lip of a pit so vast I couldn’t measure it. My ears strained, but no echo returned. That was worse than hearing it. It was the proof of a bottomless hunger, a place where sound itself was swallowed whole. And then the eyes appeared.

He corrected, "a place filled with endless everything. Endless wants, endless emptiness, endless powers. Endless chaos. It came to him, whispered a solution- a host for it, in exchange for a mate." My eyebrows arched, "what is the endless?" "It is hard to describe." He paused, his gaze seemed to go off into nothingness, "It is everything and nothing at all. It is a mirror of worlds by which shadows and shades are born. It's a place and a being, a god in its own right-" "And did it- did it give him a mate?" I managed to utter. I was taken in by the story and though I knew the answer, something about hearing it from his lips seemed more genuine.

POV DARLENE The Abyss was no longer just a hole in the earth; it was a rhythmic, breathing lung of the planet that exhaled the concentrated sorrow of nineteen generations. As Eryx and I stood at the jagged edge of the rift, the Black-Emerald light rising from the depths didn't just illuminate the ruins of the North—it "translated" them into a landscape of obsidian and grief. A pillar of pure, neutral energy erupted from the two of them, tearing through the roof of the Vault and shooting four miles up through the dark ocean, breaking the surface like a second sun. The carcass of the Abyssal Leviathan disappeared into the pitch-black freezing waters above, taking the madness of the trench with it. At the bottom of the world, bathed in the soft, ancient luminescence of the flawless white jade gates, Caleb Blackwood stood motionless. The timer in his HUD was a relentless executioner: 69:40:12.

"The flood was merely a greeting, Emma. The real tide is the one that rises from within. The First King left a hole in the world, and the Abyss is simply the water filling the gap. You cannot stop the gravity of the soul." With a sudden, violent movement, he slammed the trident into the sand. The ground beneath the Sun-Spire didn't just shake; it dissolved.
