Between the gaps of the opened door, along with staggering footsteps, a figure in a red dress emanating thick champagne fragrance pushed deep in. “Wait, is this a dream? It's not... Did I drink day alcohol too excessively? What is everyone doing here? Ah! ...You gathered to throw a Christmas party? Haha!” The one who barged in like a bomb into this nightmarish den of solemn predators was none other than Ju Hyo-jin. “We wish you a Merry Christmas, We wish you a Merry Christmas, We wish you a Merry Christmas and a Happy New Year!” She, as if the energy of men confronting murderously was not in her mind, brightly clapped her hands and began to sing a carol out of nowhere.

Nicholas “Merry Christmas!” shouted a smiling street performer, handing out small candy canes. “No, thank you,” Nicholas Kerstman said, shaking his head as he walked past. “But it's Christmas time! Take one,” the performer urged. “Embrace the season.” Nicholas sighed. Why did Christmas have to come every year? “Sure. Why not?” Nicholas said with a shrug as he took the candy cane into his hand. When he thought the street performer couldn't see him, he threw the candy cane into the nearest trashcan.

Sebastian raised his eyebrows, clearly impressed, and gave me an encouraging smile. I cleared my throat and started the song: “The fireplace is burning bright, shining all on me, I see the presents underneath the good old Christmas tree...” Slowly, the others began to join in, humming along, their voices blending together in harmony. “And I wait all night ‘til Santa comes to wake me from my dreams, Oh, why? ‘Cause that’s Christmas to me...” I caught a glimpse of Sophie, still silent in the corner. Her eyes were downcast, the frown still etched on her face, as though she couldn’t quite be part of this moment.

She balanced the wine and her tote bag on the kitchen counter and turned to Cassandra. “It’s the weekend, sweetheart, let’s have some fun!” she yelled as she flipped on the music system and let Sabrina Carpenter’s upbeat song “A Nonsense Christmas” fill the room. she asked, pointing at me. “Great granny," Selene cuts in. Caleb touched her shoulder, probably signalling for her to stop talking. “She really isn't anyone important," she spat, shrugging Caleb's hands off her shoulder. “Young girl," Damon's grandma said. “Didn't your parents ever teach you it is rude to interrupt elders?" Selene's smile faltered. "I'm really sorry for her behavior, please pardon her," Helena apologized. “She's just too excited to see you." Damon's grandma still didn't respond. She turned to Damon again. " I like her. I think you should marry her.”

I read as I swipe down the list, “There’s Christmas carols on the playlist——Silent Night, We Three Kings, The First Noel…” Before I can finish, Jamie strikes a cold stare at me, “No.” “No Christmas carols? Oh, okay.” I swipe to the next session, “We can do Christmas Pop too——Justin Bieber’s Mistletoe, Robbie Williams’s Merry Kissmas, oh wow there’s even Lil Nas X’s HOLIDAY.” He’ll totally nail his entrance with these songs. However, it seems like Jamie doesn’t think so. He gives me a deep exhale, “No. Chandelier. No.”
