Epilogue – Liam I reflect on the summer holidays as I stand in the four-bed house, Tate’s dad got her here in Austin, TX. It’s hot and humid as I watch my girl running around between the kitchen and the boxes in the large, open space lounge. And by large, I mean like seriously fucking BIG.

She scrolled through her phone, watching old videos of her and Austin, stolen smiles, late-night laughter, the way his eyes softened when he looked at her. Then she dozed off, her phone slipping from her hand, the rain outside whispering secrets she didn’t want to hear. Meanwhile, Somewhere Outside Town Austin’s car skidded to a stop under the harsh glare of a streetlight. The industrial park loomed ahead, half-built and ghostly. Elena Marsh was already there, leaning against her black SUV, her trench coat flaring in the wind. “Austin,” she said, voice calm but tight. “You came fast.”

My eyes looked at Austin for a bit before moving to the school. "Come on, Eli, let's go get your schedule," Zack called out to me. Waving my arm at Teo, I walked behind him while the others went to their classes.

She heard a loud groan. "Jeez, sis, what are you trying to do to me?" Lexi slowed and looked back at Austin, but he was gaping up at the flat screen. It was some teen drama thing, but the characters were making out more like it was Cinemax. "Whoops! Sorry," Lexi said. She grabbed the remote off the edge of the treadmill and flipped the channel till she found a kids' cartoon show. Talking ducks should be safe enough, she hoped. Austin went back to his weights and Lexi picked up the pace again. The room filled with the hum of the treadmill, the slaps of Lexi's footfalls, and Austin's low grunts as he lifted.

he said, his hands clenching. “Get Tom here.” Tom arrived soon after, his eyes sharp, his heart guarded with realism as he joined us, Carter nearby, his hands checking the security monitors. My pulse quickened, my throat burning as I repeated the sighting, my eyes stinging with fear. “It was Austin, Tom—scarred but him. The plate started with X7L.” My heart ached, my stomach twisting with the certainty he was back. Tom nodded, his hands jotting notes, his voice steady.

We were shocked. We took a few seconds to calm our mother down before we teleported to the hospital to check on Austin. When we got there, the doctor asked us to sign a document so they could operate on him, which we quickly did, and they rushed him into the surgery room.

Her eyes glassy with tears. "I will kill Stella, I will kill you. I beg you do not start with me, you won't like the outcome. I will leave you lying in a ditch. I will never love you, be it we have a kid together or not. Be it whatever situation all I feel for you is disgust and—" "Austin no!" Mrs Brown pleaded when she noticed Stella beginning to pass-out. Austin immediately let her go, like a kid caught doing wrong. Stella fell to the tiles crawling she coughed and coughed catching her breath. Tears immediately streamed down her cheeks.
