I looked down at it before sliding mine in hers, not wanting to be disrespectful.
"Lucy. I'm Lucy," I said with a small smile.
"I love your accent," Luca's mom gushed. "You're British?"
"Yeah."
"Ma what are you doing up this late?" Luca asked his mother, looking at her with the same cold eyes as he does everyone else but I could see the softness behind it. This was the one time I'd been able to read him.
"Nothing," Faye told her son, waving an arm in the air and placing the other on her hip. "I was just hungry and got in the mood for some chocolate chip cookies."
