another person shouted with great urgency. I tried to turn around so that I could run toward the center of the set where the ground was stable, but the ground where I was standing suddenly broke apart. The edge of the cliff disappeared completely. I felt my body falling through the air as the world tilted. It was a terrifying feeling. I was falling very fast toward the sharp rocks below. I tried to scream, but I could not make any sound because the air was being pushed out of my lungs by the force of the fall and the sheer terror. I felt the cold wind rushing past my ears and the sight of the sky disappearing above me.

My feet dangled several feet above the ground. “Shit,” I cursed under my breath, panic clawing at my chest. Going back wasn’t an option. Closing my eyes, I took a deep breath and let go. The fall was quick but brutal. I landed hard, my ankle twisting with a sickening crunch. Pain shot through me, and I clamped a hand over my mouth to stifle a scream. Tears welled in my eyes as I lay there, the cold earth seeping into my bones.

Alpha Nick looks over at Alpha Jax looking perplexed and trying to recall what rule 12 was. “what’s rule 12?” I look him straight in the eyes “rule 12 is you have to run 100 miles, and train with me the rest of the day, and if you can’t complete that then I can beat the shit out of you for requesting me to join you in your room.” “What if I complete it?” I start laughing and so does everyone else but him. I wipe my face from my tears and smile at him “Oh you think YOU can complete MY training?” Jax and I look at one another and I nod my head. Jax looks at Nick “I bet you, you can’t. Even I can’t and everyone here can’t. So do you want to bet?” Nick looks at me in my eyes.

I hurried over to her and supported her falling figure by putting my hand around her waist leading her to the nearest table. I ignore how right it felt to place my hand around her waist or how she seemed to fit perfectly in my arms every time I carry her. I went to pick up the fallen crutch and made my way back to her.

She fell rapidly to the ground. "Patriarch!"
