I waited for the memory of Julian’s icy blue eyes and his predatory job offer to fade into the fog of a champagne-induced nightmare. It wasn’t real, I told myself, clutching the silk duvet to my chest. The job offer, the mention of Marcus, the way Julian looked at me like I was a prize to be stolen, just a dream. But then I saw it. On my bedside table, the glass award from the Harvard Business School sat catching the morning light, its edges sharp and undeniable. Beside it lay a heavy, charcoal-colored business card I didn't remember taking, but must have clutched in my hand like a lifeline.

Vamoire is not speaking as well. “Are you sure you did not overdose them with that certain drug?” Hodor adjusted himself on the throne, his back is fully leaned on it. “I am sure we had only given the right amount,” Viller confidently answered. “They will wake up soon, my King,” Jek chimed in. “Oh, they are moving. I think they are gaining their consciousness,” he immediately added seeing them slowly moving their limbs. Hodor’s eyes is flashed with anticipation. “Finally,” he uttered in a creepy voice.

I lick my lip to try and feel out what's so wrong, only to find teeth sharp and long, and a sensation of fur around the edges. I wolfed. I’m a wolf, and I shake it off, shake my head to bring my sight back to clear and fuzz-free, so I can turn and see the others around me. A weird movement that’s ungraceful and dog-like, that knocks me off balance. Nearby, a smaller wolf sits and looks at its paws, as I was, yet it glows too. Blue and surreal, as though the moon has rolled down to illuminate us with her touch, and it’s eerily pretty. Something I have never seen before at an Awakening. They don’t seem to be in pain anymore, either, and I wonder if the worst has passed. None of them is crying

His eyes, wide with innocence, blinked rapidly as he struggled to process the overwhelming moment. At first, there was confusion. He looked around, as if seeking confirmation that they were indeed calling his name. His tiny hands clutched the sides of his miniature piano with a mixture of excitement and disbelief. The applause and cheers from the audience were like thunder in his ears, both thrilling and bewildering.

I miss Sister Alex. She introduces herself as Ruby Caffrey. She has a wonderful name. I go on to explain the dreams to her. "What you experienced is a False Awakening," she says "What's a False Awakening?" I ask. "False Awakening occurs when an individual dreams about waking but in fact remains asleep," Harper explained. "Show off," I said under my breath. "Yes, just as your friend has explained and it is a fairly common occurrence." "So it is not a bad thing?" I ask.

“I’m just… more aware. Like standing in a mirrored room where each reflection shows a different angle of the truth.” Raven’s eyes glistened. “And what truth is that?” Sophia turned her palms upward. The faint glow brightened, responding to her breath, her heartbeat, her intention. “That waking isn’t a single moment,” she said. “It’s a choice repeated. A recognition renewed.” Raven exhaled. “And what is it recognizing now?” Sophia smiled faintly. “That I’m not afraid.” Raven let out a disbelieving sound. “Well, one of us has to be.”

The silver network erupted with a brilliant, blinding light that illuminated the entire planet. The Witness opened its massive eye to its absolute limits. The fracture shook violently, and reality itself bent and warped around the platform. In that singular, terrifying moment, every single ancient being realized the exact same horrifying truth. Ava wasn't just recovering her memories. She was awakening. The Architect's face went completely pale, her voice a breathless gasp of horror. "No." The End took a massive step forward, its voice a deep, vibrating warning that shook the earth. IT IS TOO SOON. THE CONTAINER CANNOT HOLD.

As I drift off into an uneasy sleep, one thought echoes in my mind: Whatever truths await me, whatever power lies dormant within me, I'm ready to face it head-on. Because the alternative – living in ignorance, forever running from my destiny – is no longer an option. The countdown to my true awakening has begun. And I'm determined to rewrite the rules of the game. No matter the cost.
