The Way of the Dragon

The Way of the Dragon

The man let out a muffled groan, as if he was unwilling to give up. After that, he steadied his body, which was constantly shaking. His hands quickly condensed into a handprint, and instantly tore the sky apart. "Buzz!" An iron chain broke through the space and attacked Zephyr Khan rapidly like a giant python. The iron chain was entirely black, as if it was made of a huge spider. It flickered with an evil aura, and there was even a rotten aura lingering around it. "Hiss!" The moment the iron chain quickly arrived in front of Zephyr Khan, it turned into a huge black python. It opened its bloody mouth and fiercely swallowed Zephyr Khan.

Enjoying the book tremendously, the characters names and even the tone of the author changed in the last 1/3 of the book was a bit confusing but was able to adjust to the changes the plot is definitely engaging and keeps you pushing to see how it all plays out for Zepher but it seem to abruptly?

The Secrets of the Bad Boy

The Secrets of the Bad Boy

he points at her with his chin, expressionless, “didn't you want to join our group? There is the proof.” I swallow a bitter breath when I reach for it and study it, without a doubt it is the same bracelet that the Zanni subjects had. “Why black?” “I really don't know.” He dives into the pages of his new book of the week and surprisingly it is not the one he read yesterday. Had I already finished it? For sure yes. His title was somewhat ironic; The Darkest Book of Cheap Poetry.

' He replied. As she heard this, she turned to me and yelled at me, 'you're leaving your school for the hospital tomorrow and you are also grounded for weeks'. I turned back to my room to read the book BLACK CULTS and thinking about what to do when the black cults arrives the next night. I couldn't let go of the book if it's was has been bringing the black cults to me because it's the most interesting novel I've ever read. The chapter I read that night was the seventeenth call The Gem. I went asleep while reading the part where the black cult has to look for a gem.

The Invisible Chains

The Invisible Chains

It not only tracked my location but also stole all my data and messages. It even copied every single text conversation. That was how Alice befriended all the same people I had in my contacts. She read my chats, figured out what they liked, and then pretended she shared those same interests. Those idiots actually thought they found their soulmates, so of course, they dumped me and went running to Alice. As for Isaac, I never had him on my phone in the first place. Mom was always the one talking to him for me. Hence, Alice did not even know he existed and could not mess with him.

The Frozen Heart

The Frozen Heart

Her face was nothing but tight, translucent skin stretched over bone, and her eyes shimmered like the northern lights. “Where am I?” I asked, trying to straighten despite the weight of the chains. “Where your story ends, and ours begins,” she said as she stepped closer and ran an ice cold finger along my face, exactly over my scar. “Silas Blackthorn thought he could cheat us. He believed that giving us a broken human woman he had crushed by the roadside would be enough. But he did not know what I felt even then.” “What are you talking about?” My stomach clenched.

Chained to the Billionaire

Chained to the Billionaire

Of course, the windows were tinted, and I couldn’t make out anything. I passed it and shrugged, returning my attention to the various illegal methods of making loads of money in two days—the get-rich-quick scheme. I was just thinking about contacting one of the business moguls for a loan when I heard screeching of tires against asphalt. I curiously glanced over my shoulder, and my eyes rounded in dread. The black car did a hard reverse and then veered onto the sidewalk. I staggered back, missing being hit by a mere inch. It halted and the door swung open.

THE LAST SHIFT: A Werewolf without a Wolf

THE LAST SHIFT: A Werewolf without a Wolf

“What if it’s not chains? What then should it be? His fire became fiercer, his storms blazed in his face. Then we put it in our heads that we are fire, not feed. His fires crept up, and the fog shrank away even farther, and now bright enough to light up the entire fringes of the clearing. It was no earth here, but black, crusty, with little smoldering streaks of gray. The whole clearing was a scar. The shape was pressed all the closer to the roots, and the cage moaned like it would be torn open. It now had a sound which was added to the hum. Not a voice exactly. Then was more like all the chains that ever enwrapped anything talking all at the same time.

OWNED BY THE DEMON KING

OWNED BY THE DEMON KING

A loud roar erupted from my throat as black chains burst forth from the runes, aglow with red embers. I swung the chains forward and they coiled like snakes, impaling the first two men through the chest. I yanked both chains back, and their bodies were lashed across the cathedral, crashing into pillars with a wet crunch. The others screamed, keeping on with their charge. I spun around, thrusting one hand to the left and a cascade of chains burst forth from my hand, whipping across the air. One of the men raised his shield to block them, but the chains seared through it like butter and wrapped themselves around his neck. I pulled forward and his head flew off.

Frequently Asked Questions

The one thing that stuck with me after reading 'Black Chain' is how it flips the typical power fantasy on its head. It's set in a brutally stratified world where magic is controlled by a central aristocracy through these arcane chains that bind power, and the protagonist is a 'Mule'—someone who carries this bound magic for the elite without being able to use it himself. He's literally a conduit, a piece of infrastructure.

But the plot kicks off not with a grand rebellion, but with a quiet, horrifying discovery: the chains are sentient, and they're dying. The magic is actually a parasitic force, and the ruling class has been sacrificing 'Mules' to keep it fed. The main character doesn't want to overthrow the system at first; he just wants to survive and maybe save the few people he cares about. The tension comes from him navigating this decaying, predatory hierarchy, trying to understand the true nature of the chains while everyone else thinks he's just a tool. It's less a hero's journey and more a desperate salvage operation in a collapsing world.

Honestly, the climax where he has to choose between severing the chain and killing the magic entirely—which would destroy society—or finding a way to symbiotically coexist, is what makes it memorable. The plot is grim but weirdly hopeful in its own way.
