She cracked her knuckles and typed the first line of her next book: “It started with a lie, a shared bed, and a man who kissed like he already knew my secrets...” She stopped, reread it, and smiled. Outside, snowflakes had begun to fall—soft, tentative, like new beginnings. Somewhere, Lake would be teasing her about overusing ellipses or calling her “professor” just to make her blush. Dad is too powerful and influential to do those things. After changing clothes and removing my light make-up, I finished doing my night routine and lay in bed. I thought about Nathan Fuenter and his weirdness. I wonder what kind of person he is. I grabbed a book from my shelf and was about to flip its page when I heard a thud on my room’s veranda.

Every bit of me knew I shouldn't but I couldn't help it. "I know this book is fake. Why would you put a page that has a dance that opens the realm of color." I snapped. I couldn't sit back. I wouldn't throw my friend under the bus but I refused to play their games all to be thrown away. "You think it's fake." King Alexanders smirk had me questioning if it was even though I had the real book. His silence told me he was waiting for my reply.

Before the beast could turn around Alfonso, I, on the other hand, directed the roots of a flanking tree to crawl towards the feet of the gigantic creature. The roots moved and crawled like a snake moving faster in the direction of the beast's hairy feet. Unconsciously, before the beast could make another move, I motioned the roots swirling slowly into its legs and wrapped them tightly until the beast couldn't move it anymore. Compassing my hand up high, I shifted the roots to move upward, which made the beast hang upside down above a tree. [Alfonso, it's your turn to cut his head and strike your sword into its heart...hurry up until the roots can keep him still!]

Would you mind lending a hand? She gapes at me for a minute before she lets out an exhausted sigh and goes about. Ignoring her existence, I bury my nose under the book again. The first three paragraphs are a bullshit sort of introduction. ‘The Basics’; promises about unreachable standards I’d reach, the kind of work I’d end up writing and Yada, Yada, Yadaaaaaaaa.

"That's enough, thank you!" "I thought you said it was okay to read this?" Logan looks at me innocently. "Yeah. I change my mind. What the hell is this book about anyway?" I grunt. "Have you not been listening at all? It's an erotic romance called 'Mafia Boss's Slave.' "Mafia boss's what? What kind of demented book are you reading, and how is that supposed to help me sleep?" I chuckled. "Whatever, I tried." Logan slams the book shut and stands up. "Try to get some sleep, Daniel. You need it. Goodnight."

After that, the next heading read Content with a series of smaller sentences piling up in a straight line. There were no lines on the yellowed pages, but the sentences were straight. The handwriting on its own, not so much. A few of the titles had disappeared so a the whole page didn't make a lot of sense.
