“What do you know? Must be fate.” I start walking again. “Or I’m in hell.” I hear his intoxicating chuckle as he follows me in silence to the next class. I take my seat, almost in the back. He still sits close, but this time he was diagonal from me and out of my line of vision. Maybe, just maybe, I’d be able to focus in this class. I think I heard fate laugh at me. “What the hell were you and Ryan talking about?”

Fate had a merciless, screwed up sense of humor when it set me up with this monster, and made me marry him in a last minute forced marriage, or more like imprisonment. And my fate was crystal clear, death is coming for me…sooner rather than later.

She rolled her and shut her eyes as I nuzzled her neck. “I… I don’t…” she heaved against my chest. “Fate is not destiny, Zeve. It’s a chance to change one’s destiny.
