"He's only a kid." The man merely grinned. "As was every god, king, and ruler before him." I balled my fists up. "You won't take him." His eyes grew gloomy. "Fate is beyond your control." Shaun stepped forward. "Try us." The man sighed for the first time. As though he was let down. "Excellent," he whispered. "We'll let fate make the final decision." He held out his hand before I could respond.

In her, she felt like that was a wrong idea talking this man's hand not when she had seen his dark eyes. Some strange noises were heard and she took his hand immediately causing them to disappear from that place in an instant and some fairies with black wings appeared looking around and sniffing in which direction they had gone.

A soft light pulsed, and an intricate mark appeared—mirroring the same symbol that had once been on the legendary spear. The mark on the woman’s skin spread, glowing across her forehead. “I am you, and you are me. We are one, Trinity. The spear, you, and me—we are Fates.” Charlene’s pulse pounded in her ears. “What?! That’s insane! I don’t know who or what you are, but I am NOT a Fate!”

The fates have been rumoured since chapter 12, only to make their first debut at the ending chapters.
