“Why do we have this… bond? I’m not one of you. I’m human. This shouldn’t be possible.”
Carlos sighed, his hand sliding down to grasp mine fully, holding on like I was the only thing keeping him grounded. “Fate doesn’t care about what’s possible, Casey. It only cares about what’s meant to be.”
Carlos’s fingers tightened around mine, and our eyes locked, his gaze deep and soft as he looked at me. But then his eyes flickered. I saw fear, and guilt in his lavender eyes.
As quickly as it appeared, it vanished, replaced by a cold, fierce resolve. Suddenly, he pulled his hand away from mine, and he steps back, his expression hardening.
