"Mom! Ahhh!" Eiden tried to stand up. The lights turned off and on quickly. He didn't want to waste the opportunity and immediately ran to the door. Eiden banged loudly on the door. "Mom! Dad! Corrine! Help!" Eiden's body was lifted into the air again, but this time it was different. His eyes were wide open and his pupils turned white with his mouth open. His muscles began to tighten, Eiden felt an excruciating pain all over his body. He screamed but something stifled his voice. Eiden hit the floor hard. His eyes started to return to normal and the pain slowly disappeared. Eiden stood up slowly. The lights came back on normally. Just then the door opened.

Losing his mind, Walter grabbed his walking stick and smashed it violently against the fence, cursing, "You heartless bastard! Aren't you afraid that this might come back to bite you? You've got no conscience, Mitchell. God's going to punish you for this!" I didn't bother sparing him a glance. I stepped right into the elevator cabin and pressed the button to go up. The elevator ascended toward the top, leaving Walter's vitriol and the residents' frantic pleas to fade into the valley below.

She concentrates on her monitor as I hear the clicking sound of the keyboard. After a few seconds, she responds. “It’s on the 30th floor, mam.” Oh, boy. I manage a smile. “Thank you.” Then I advance toward the elevator. It will take me an eternity to reach the 30th floor if I take the stairs. I sigh and get into the elevator. It’s empty and I’m glad for that. I usually take the stairs instead of the elevator because of the disgusting things some people do in elevators. But that's not the only reason. I'm also afraid of getting stuck in an elevator. That would be terrifying!

Christopher had never been late before…god…what if he'd been forced to ship out early? "No no no," she moaned. When it reached the subbasement the elevator doors didn't open. She looked around quickly. Why weren't the doors opening? She pressed the button indicating 'door open'. Nothing happened. Real fear hit her and she quickly pressed L for the lobby. Nothing happened. She quickly pressed 7, for her floor. And still nothing happened. The air froze in her chest. She was stuck in the elevator! Ashleigh had a real fear of small enclosed spaces. Elevators were bad for her, but made tolerable only due to the fact that she would be in one for less than a minute.

Its not like every elevator breaks down like the one I first entered back in Nigeria. He pressed the button for the top floor. Penthouse. "if you're not scared of closed spaces, then why did you hesitate to get in at first?" he asked curiously turning his attention on me. "Uhm.. Its just a silly fear" I said trying to brush it off. But he looked like he wasn't having it. So I sighed and said "the first time I stepped foot into an elevator it broke down and I was alone, I was in there for almost an hour. So if I can help it I try to avoid the elevators as much as I can." I finished off with a tight smile.

That small conversation gave me a small reprieve from my worries, but only for a little while. Once inside, I press the button for the executive floor, fumbling in the process. The higher the elevator climbs, the more tightly wound I become. I shove my trembling hands into my pockets, trying to contain the panic. Faster than I would’ve wanted, the elevator dings and the doors slide open. I hesitate as I grapple with my fear. I stand frozen, debating whether I should just turn back, like the coward I am. But just as the doors begin to close, I jump out.

My heart pounded in my chest, each beat echoing the terror coursing through my veins. The descent felt like an eternity, every second stretching into a nightmare. I squeezed my eyes shut, bracing for the inevitable impact while I tried to control my breathing as panic was setting in. Suddenly, the elevator jerked to a halt, the abrupt stop throwing us forward. We hit the floor hard, the wind knocked out of me.

Her manipulations had escalated to dangerous levels, and the consequences of her actions were about to unfold. As we stepped into the elevator of our luxurious penthouse, the familiar sense of security washed over me. The doors slid shut, enclosing us in a private sanctuary. But as the elevator began its ascent, a chill ran down my spine, an unexplained sense of foreboding that made my heart race. Suddenly, the elevator jolted to a stop, the lights flickering for a moment before plunging us into darkness. Panic seized my chest, and I instinctively reached out for Nathaniel's hand, seeking comfort in his touch.

Elana questioned as she tugged me by the silk robe, pulling me back inside the safety of the apartment. “I saw someone in the elevator,” I said, my voice barely a whisper. I looked confused, my brain trying to make sense of the fear. “Those eyes... They looked so daring. So cold.” Elana looked at me with a frown. To her, I was just being paranoid. In a building like Obsidian Heights, people take elevators all the time. There are dozens of residents, guests, and delivery people. To a human, it was just a neighbor going home.

I hate enclosed spaces, always have ever since father's punishment of the coffin when I was nine, and father would never think I would get into an elevator. My hands shake as I put my keys back in my purse. Sweat is pouring down my chest and back and I suddenly feel like I am on fire. I know what I need to do. I know something is in the elevator for me. I reach the doors and press the down button. I wait for the doors to open, the entre time my stomach is turning and making me feel like I am going to vomit.
