Taking a deep breath, I pressed on and what I saw next confirmed I arrived late– well late into the bloodshed which must have taken place in this hamlet hours ago. There were lifeless mutilated bodies of werewolves and my cousin’s men(lycans) and there was a flood of crimson as Cathena’s hamlet stood in total desolation. A howl filled the air. “Calix!” I quickly recognized that as my cousin’s voice. I bolted into the forest before me, veering through the trees and emerged on a riverbank. There’s no sign of Calix or the rest of our men, but my gaze settled on a shredded piece of cloth. I stepped closer, picked it up and quickly noted that was from Calix’s cloak.

But, today it was as if she hadn’t even listened. I had to look away to hide the tears that threatened to spill over my eyes. I took a deep breath and asked Aaron, “ What took you so long?” “ Don’t even ask. Alice was so scared to use the normal road after today’s news that I had to take a detour.” He said in an accusing voice. “What? Who was scared? Aaron almost wet his pants when I told him about the clip I had seen.” Alice retorted. “Anything….huh… I wasn’t scared. It was you who was petrified. You were shaking like a leaf and who was it that said, ‘Aaron…..please….please, save us. I don’t want to die.’”

But as I grabbed it, my thumb brushed against something cold, something stiff, something that felt entirely too heavy. The laughter died in my throat. Alice’s hand wasn't just a hand. Clutched firmly within her small, pale palm were four separate, severed human fingers. They were adult fingers—calloused, stained with a dark, dried substance, and clearly detached from any hand. They looked like grotesque candles, held upright in a row. My stomach dropped into a void so deep I couldn't breathe. I pulled my hand back as if burned. The movement was sharp, abrupt. Elena gasped, the matches clattering onto the tablecloth.

We tried to work out if this Chloe girl was lying, if she was crazy—or if she truly carried a message from someone who wanted us all dead. When Chloe turned to leave, Alice suddenly grabbed her wrist, her grip firm but trembling. “You’re coming with us,” she said, voice steely, eyes blazing with a mixture of fear and resolve. My stomach clenched. I could see the tension in Alice’s face—she knew this wasn’t a typical threat. Something darker was at play. Jax looked at me with a serious expression. “Of course I do! I wasn’t born yesterday! It means when you’re scared of something, like I fear my father for example.” I through my hands up in the air. Jax chuckled and took my face in his hands softly making me look directly at him. “No honey. The word fear is more of an acronym.” I scrunched my face up in confusion. “Ok now you got me 38 shades of confuzzled fucked. Explain yourself.” Jax laughed and dropped his hands. “You’ve been hanging around Alida WAY to long hun. She’s rubbing off on you.” He said as he got up to get a pen and paper.

I hope Gramps gets her soon, I don’t know how much longer I can take of this…or how much longer Siobhan can take. The following day, I feel the ache in my chest and burning throughout my body, it’s like I’m on fire. I scream and writhe on the floor of my bedroom not understanding what was happening to me. Then I felt it, the disgust and the fear, she hadn’t felt fear in all of the torture that they were putting her through, but now? Alice ignores my question, her eyes burning with a sinister light. “Do you know I have dreamt of this moment a million times?” She takes slow, deliberate steps towards me, each footfall reverberating through the floorboards. An ominous energy crackles around her, suffocating the very air. I instinctively step back, putting distance between us as dread coils in my stomach. “Is that so?” I keep my tone even, masking the frantic pounding of my heart. My mind races, scanning for exits, assessing potential weapons - anything to buy me time against this twisted version of Alice.

“Your accusations are too painful, but tell me, do you have any proof I did anything to her?” Alice seems to lose her mind, wanting to pounce on her regardless of where they stand in the chain of power. Then again, the fight might be in her favor, with how frail Kamila seems these days. She rolls her eyes at Alice, and for the strangest reason, they fall on me next with a wicked grin. I feel my entire body stiffen with fear for some reason, the way she watches me like a predator. A bad feeling swells up in my gut instantly.

Blue eyes looked at ke from a pale face. She seemed to be still a teenager. I felt a lump in my throat. Her face looked so innocent and young but her eyes were full of torment and pain. The girl blinked and immediately turned away. "Hello there," I took a couple of steps into the room. "I'm Alice, I am the Luna of this pack," I smiled gently. The girl looked at me then at the two men behind me. The flare of panic in her eyes was instant. The sour smell of fear lingered in the room.
