His Little Hunter
The fire was inside me, consuming me from within.
"No," I whispered, my voice trembling like a leaf in a storm.
I tried to sit up, but the room spun violently, tilting on its axis. I collapsed back onto the pillows, clutching the sheets in fists so tight my knuckles turned white.
Then came the cold.
It hit with the force of a physical blow, ice water in my veins, violently shaking my frame. My teeth chattered, the sound loud in the silent room. I scrambled to pull the duvet back up, burying myself under the layers, but I couldn't stop shaking, couldn't stop the tremors wracking my body.
