Jasmine’s POV Abe arrived with the flight documents tucked neatly inside his jacket, looking as calm as if he had already anticipated every reaction in the room. He placed the papers on the conference table and slid my boarding pass toward me before he said anything else, and I picked it up. My name sat across the front in clean print, for a moment I did not speak. The paper felt ordinary between my fingers, yet the destination printed beneath my name carried years of half-answers and sealed vaults and a curse that still lived under Tristan’s skin.

My boarding pass is scanned once and then handed back to me like it’s a formality. I glance at the gate number. It’s first class. I stop walking. “Wait–no, pause.’ I looked down at my boarding pass again, “I booked economy.” Dante doesn’t slow down and simply walks where the flight attendant is leading us. “You’re with me.”

“What will you do now, Victor?” “I have a pack to find and a life to start.” He gave a curt nod. “Your plane leaves in forty minutes. Do not miss it.” I slid back into the car, the package heavy in my lap. I looked at Victor one last time. He gave me a final, cold smile. The engine roared to life, and we drove toward the horizon, toward the sun. I reached for the passport. It was real. It was mine. “Paris is waiting. No titles. No pack. Just me.”

I can feel the eyes of the authorities on me, but I keep my head down and keep moving. I reach the security checkpoint and take a deep breath. I hand over my passport and pray that it holds up. The officer glances at it and stamps it, barely giving me a second look. I let out a sigh of relief and headed towards my gate. The flight is long, but I'm grateful for the time to think. I know that my life will never be the same, but I'm determined to make the most of it. The U.S. is my chance at a fresh start, and I'm not going to squander it.

I say and we walk up and down the library isles. I climb and jump to get books off of shelves and Aidan has to catch me a couple of times when I fell.

I threw the wasted coffee cup in the trash can and looked at the damage done. I tried wiping the stain with my hands but to no avail. I glanced at my watch and saw that there were still ten minutes left until the flight, so I decided to just change. I was about to open my luggage and get a new shirt, but I heard someone speak in the intercom once again. “All passengers of flight 20189 bound to Haliyah province, please board the plane now.”

My vision blurred around the edges, forcing me to tighten my grip around the handle of my suitcase. It was the only thing keeping me steady, the only solid thing I could hold on to as my strength slowly slipped away. "Passengers traveling on Flight A317 to New York, please have your boarding passes ready," the airline staff announced with a polite smile. I nodded faintly to myself and reached into my handbag for my boarding pass. The moment my fingers brushed against it, a sharp pain exploded through my abdomen without warning. "...Ah..." A broken gasp escaped my lips as every ounce of strength vanished from my body.
