It was hard to see in the dark, but if I somehow god trapped in here, I might be screwed. Above me, the footsteps stopped, and someone took a breath. A deep one, like they were trying to taste the air. I closed my eyes and prayed for him to go, to keep walking. And then they did. They walked until their footsteps faded away into the brush. And it was only until I couldn’t hear a peep anymore that I let out my breath and allowed myself to breathe. Was I in the clear?

Baek was muttering unfamiliar words he’s reading from a book. He smirked once more before closing his eyes as he felt something taking his body. “See you soon, Dear Prince…” “Ate Sid,” I annoyingly took down the book that I was reading; I placed it on the chair beside me, pushed the flush button and prepared myself to go out. “What is it again, Daya?” I shouted back, still inside the comfort room. When I saw my poop still floating and haven’t flushed yet, I pushed the flush button once more and did some hand hygiene before going out.

He would probably lose his sanity if he woke up seeing nothing but darkness. We stand up with my hand, holding on his wrist, stepping my foot carefully. I went to the till and paid for the book. We then went out of the shop and headed to the car park. When we got to the car park, I got in and took Jack from Ashton to remove him from the cover and place him back on the stand. It was around 5:30 pm so we still had some time before heading home. Ashton read that from my mind and then he went around the car, got in and sat on the seat next to mine.

My bare feet made no sound as I walked. Suddenly I could hear heavy footsteps coming from behind. My stomach clenched but I didn't look back, neither did I slow down. I just kept walking toward where I thought my cage might be. "Well, well," a low, dangerous voice purred from the darkness behind me. "Looks like the little human has some backbone." A hand shot out from the shadows and clamped around my wrist. I froze. And then the world tilted.

“We’re already there, man. You’re just the guest.” The door creaked open behind us. Footsteps—measured, heavy. I turned, knife still in hand. Caspian Blackwood strode in, flanked by two of his men, suits sharp, eyes dead. He looked at Brandon like he was trash on the sidewalk. “Gentlemen,” Caspian said smoothly. “I’ll take it from here.” Dre glanced at me. “This your mess now?” Caspian’s eyes flicked to the blood pooling on the floor. “It always was. Appreciate the delivery.”

I just wanted to borrow one book, and first thing tomorrow morning, I’d return it to where it belonged. I turned the doorknob and pushed it open slowly, stepping into his spacious, pitch-black room. Without needing to turn on the main light, I already knew exactly where his bookshelf was. So, I chose to leave the room in darkness, letting only a faint glow from the hallway seep in through the crack in the door. I walked toward the shelf, assuming the horror book was in its usual spot. But it was empty. Since I couldn’t see in the dark, I finally decided to turn around and head toward the light switch.

The moon's absence seemed to accentuate the darkness, as if its gentle glow was the only thing that could have pierced the veil of shadows. As I stood frozen in the darkness, I heard the unmistakable sound of footsteps echoing through the void. Each step creaked and groaned, a symphony of dread that grew louder with every passing moment. My heart raced in anticipation, my senses heightened as I strained to see into the blackness.
