I wrapped it around my fist and felt the links bite into my skin. "You wanted to see what I could do?" I brought the chain down across his face and felt his jaw shatter under the impact. The sensation traveled up the chain into my arm, a vibration that said bone breaking. He screamed and the sound came out wet and wrong through his ruined mouth. I hit him again. Aimed for his temple. The chain connected and his head whipped to the side. I saw blood and clear fluid leak from his ear.

A gray chain was birthed from those seals. The chain was the thickness of an infant's arms and was filled with dark red runes. A faint gray mist surrounded the chain. Looking at the chain, it looked like something a grim reaper would use. The chain had its own name, it was called the Soul Chain. Fane grabbed the chain and whipped it forward. There was a smack, and ripples were suddenly in the air. If he used his senses to feel it, he would be able to feel an incredibly destructive soul energy left behind.

I went to one of Hayden’s social pages I’d stumbled across before, scrolling through his throwback photos with trembling hands. And there it was. The chain. I touched the back of my neck, there, I felt the chain’s lock, it was tiny, fused with tiny wires that sparked when in contact with the skin.

I promise you that.” When those words left his mouth, even he was not confident that what he said was even true. He sighed, trying to push all the negative thoughts that were trying to flood his mind. As he was about to move away from Horace, he noticed something on his forehead. There was something glowing on it. It was only a flicker and Felix could not make out what it was. As soon as he saw it, it disappeared. That was strange, he thought. He touched his forehead to check but nothing happened. He didn't know what he had seen, but since it was no longer there, he dismissed it.
