A big jaw aching smile spreads on my face as I buckle up, adjusting my mirrors, turning the AC on and drive. In the words of the man from the film Braveheart, I scream “FREEEEDDDOOOM!” Chaos whimpers in my mind as I drive along the road when a giant black wolf with red eyes steps out of the forest in front of the car and I slam on the brakes with a scream. The witch steps out, as does a grey wolf. Oh fuck!

As night fell, pale moonlight spilled over the forest and on Frost Lake, which gleamed menacingly. Frost Lake was as calm as a mirror.

Leah's Pov: Something's wrong. I feel so weak. The movie was playing and Tucker was super close to me, I felt claustrophobic and sick. I could barely see the screen, I was confused. I could hear sounds. Screams and footsteps tearing through the forest. The darkness was calling me into the forest and I kept looking at the trees behind me. “Speak directly. I don’t have time.” The red-haired guy — Finn, I think his name was; one of the ice hockey teammates, nodded quickly. “Right. Someone from Woodhill was fed to the living forest again. Mere minutes ago..” I gasped so loud it made both of them turn to look at me. The living forest. Just hearing those words made my blood run cold. And then suddenly a flashback played in my brain. The spears, the logs, branches and twigs and that red blood sea of soil. The memories flooded in and I caught myself trying to catch my breath.

The cabin came into view just as the sun dipped behind the mountains, the sky bleeding red and gold. As Derek pulled into the driveway, Lily felt it again, stronger this time. A presence. Watching. She stepped out of the truck and looked toward the forest. Between the trees, something moved. Not pack. Not human. Luna snarled inside her mind. Derek followed her gaze, his expression darkening. “We’re not alone,” he said. And deep in the forest, unseen eyes locked onto the omega they had finally found.
