The boundaries between worlds seemed fragile, like thin ice ready to crack. Richard, now regaining some of his strength, stared at the portal in awe. "Is that... Are those other realms?" Selene nodded gravely. "Indeed. The Heartstone's activation, while saving this realm, has torn the fabric between worlds. If we don't act quickly, the chaos of intertwining realities will consume them all." A particularly haunting image from the portal caught my attention — a devastated version of the town square, with its people appearing gaunt and devoid of hope. The stark contrast to our current surroundings was a chilling reminder of the stakes.

But as time passed, a new challenge emerged, one that threatened to disrupt the harmony they had fought so hard to achieve. A rift, known as the Void Fracture, began to form within the Convergence Zones. It was a tear in the fabric of reality, a swirling abyss that consumed everything it touched. The Void Fracture emanated darkness and chaos, draining the energy of the merged realms and spreading discord among their inhabitants.

I pushed harder, stretching my awareness as far as it could go. Nothing. There was nothing. No artificial interference of any kind. The fog was not being generated by machines. The vehicles had not been disabled by any device I could detect. This was something else entirely. Something beyond my expertise. Kael's voice broke through my thoughts. "This woman is crazy. We are not playing her games. We are leaving this place without dealing with this bullshit." The ground began to shake. A low rumble built beneath our feet, growing louder and more intense with each passing second. Then the growling started. Deep, guttural sounds coming from every direction, surrounding us, closing in.

My eyes widened. Was she really telling the truth? Was Altan going to lose his memory? It made me feel anxious and worried. "One more thing, the sword is in a different realm. A realm of smoke and bones" she said and faded away into dust, right before our own eyes. "She's gone" I breathed and Altan let out a sigh. "That's right. She's gone. Now, I gifted you with the opportunity to fix things, use it wisely" Death said as he suddenly appeared out of thin air. He vanished right after he'd relayed his message.

Hatred was the feeling that flowed through his strings at me, and it hurt. Of course I had no right to feel like that; but my emotions never do as they're told and I refuse to rip these ones out. Just because I have no right to feel this way doesn't mean I don't deserve to. Knight is what his name was, but he enjoys going by Fractured now. He was supposed to be the Nightmare Master’s loyal dog who would kill anyone who went near him. Of course, he wasn't actually loyal, just doing as he was told so that his family wouldn't suffer the consequences.

Black flooded the edges of his amber eyes and held there, fighting for more ground than it had taken since the last claiming. “It’s deeper than the last net,” he said, voice already strained. “Older protocols. The kind they buried when even the secondary grids started losing subjects. It’s not just calling. It’s trying to pull.” I kept my free hand on his arm as we moved, feeling the heat of fresh blood still seeping from the wounds on his side and shoulder and the constant tremor of the internal war. The bond carried his exhaustion like a low fever, the programming’s pressure, and the unresolved attachment that had become as necessary as the next breath. Behind us the pursuit continued Var

I had to become the bridge, not the axe. The realization came just as the realm reached its final breaking point. The gray sky above us cracked massively, groaning like a dying giant. Pieces of the heavens began falling like broken shards of glass, dissolving into mist before they hit the ground. Dimensional rifts opened everywhere—jagged tears in the fabric of space that showed glimpses of the pack I loved. I could see the terror on their faces through the shimmering gaps. The ground beneath us was liquefying into shadow, the gravity of the seal realm failing as it prepared to collapse into the void.

“That’s right. Keep fighting. You know I don’t mind hurting you. You’re nothing but some dirty whore who can’t even fuck right.” I can’t scream because of his hands. I can’t fight because of his weight. I can’t do anything to stop him. Maybe, just maybe, this time he’ll kill me, and it will be over. No, I can’t let him win. I bite down on his hands hard, and he pulls back. “HELP, HELP. SOMEBODY HELP ME. HELP ME! “SAM, WAKE UP.” Somebody’s shaking me, but I can’t escape.
