Regrets… Always comes in the end… It’s funny how God gave us the power of free will. The greatest power that ever existed. The decision to make a choice. Unfortunately, such power is not easy to use. Because with each decision that we make comes the consequences of such a choice.

We may believe that we have the freedom to make our own choice, like a major in college, when in reality this is chosen for us by our previous experiences and everything that led up to that decision. That’s why I never believe to that saying, that’s bullshit. People tell that to themselves to feel better about something shitty that’s happened to them. Truth of the matter is everything is random. Nothing happens for a reason. Things can happen because of a past reason, but they don’t just happen for some unknown future reason. Otherwise there’s no such thing as free will. Because if everything happen for a reason. Then what is the reason why I have to get loathed and disowned by my own mother

So I try to see if I can move any other body part, anything at all. Toes, nope. legs, nope. arms, still nope. Damn it! I'm going to be a fucking vegetable for the rest of my life! That's just fan-diddly-fuckin-tastic. Fingers, nop- wait. Holy shit! I lifted my right index finger! Finally progress! "MILLIE GET IN HERE!" Alpha yells.

“That’s not really—” “Fate is a gamble on something that might never happen. What you truly want is the most important thing.” He sat forward a little and tapped the table twice with his index finger. “The only thing I believe in, personally, is free will. Mine, specifically. And I’ve done alright so far.”

Not defined by what was done to me but by what I’d built despite it. That was freedom. Real freedom. And it felt exactly right.​​​​​​​​​​​​​​​​

I'd sold the house, and now, with my mother healthy again, we were heading overseas to start anew. Leaving wasn't an escape—it was the beginning of my freedom.
