I ignored his confusion as the grand, carved gargoyles finally came into my direct view. Their stone faces were masterfully crafted with deeply twisted grins that revealed rows of sharp, teeths. Their pointed ears were pulled back tight against their skulls in a menacing, aggressive posture, and their massive stone wings were spread forward in a permanently threatening stance. Their tawny, highly muscular bodies were seated heavily on the stone perches, knees bent outward, with their clawed hands tightly gripping the platform below. The two gargoyles faced each other in a perpetual standoff, and positioned directly between them

"We are close" "Close to the demon's cave?" I queried. "No. Close to the creature that made that growl" Benjamin said. Before he could speak further, we felt a chill behind them. "Fucking hell!" My gaze widened at the creature behind us. "You didn't deem it necessary to inform me we were tracking a fucking gar" "It's called a Gargoyle and you didn't ask" Benjamin forced out as we watched the winged creature approach us as if approaching a prey.

But they are only a small portion of the ones who actually live there. Deep within the recesses of the castle, and even in some places where the weakest of the creatures fear to tread, are the less intelligent creatures. The Gargoyles, the Ogres, the Centaurs, the Minotaurs, and all the other beastfolk that have succumb to their primal urges and have become nothing but killing machines, devouring whoever or whatever it is that gets in their way. The current Demon King does not actually mind this bunch a lot, but he also knows that they will have their use when he would need to defend the Castle from attackers.

I asked Lilith as she stood in front of me. I wasn't sure why I was so mad at Della but it had to do with the fact that she trusted those fucking mutt Rogues. Maybe my father was right. Reasonably so, since the Dragomir Castle had a way of coming off as rather menacing to those who hadn't seen it before. Our stones were darker than most, giving off an almost blackened, scorched look at night and at the top of the main tower sat two massive dragon-shaped gargoyles. They were intricately carved with tails winding down the sides of the stone structure and gaping mouths that seemed to roar into the night. They were meant to signify strength and power, but their threatening features were only accentuated by the flashes of lightning in the distance.
