Gideon The Ninth Characters Novels & Stories

"I want you to meet our new Beta, Gideon. He's going to help run some training drills today." I extended my hand to the new Beta, smiling, "It's nice to meet you, Beta Gideon." I said, and I meant it. Beta Gideon was nowhere as tall as Alpha Rhodes, but he was thick and stocky and clearly strong. He held a commanding presence, but his wide smile was reassuring and trustworthy. He had deep, espresso coloured skin and rich brown eyes, and his face was lined with age and laughter. I warmed to him immediately, grateful that not all of the new Alpha's pack was as frightening in stature as Jonas.

Gouria wasn't just a rebel soldier, he is also the cousin of their leader Lord Athesmos. And Gouria owed him an oath to serve only him until he found the only one whom he would ever only serve. And that 'one' has been found, only Gouria knew better than to tell his Lord and cousin Athesmos. ********* Gouria has been a free man but also owes Athesmos his life. He was called Lucky.

I just turned around because I can't stand watching him being punished. “If your loyalty is not with me, then I have no reason to keep you alive. I will kill you just like what I did to James!" Gideon threw another punch to Levi and when I took a glance at the beta, I saw him spit blood. I clenched my fists, while the corner of my eyes became red. I wanted to help him, but I don't know how. Gideon is a devil Alpha and what he's doing now is just the beginning. He can do more aside from this and I don't know if I can handle this.

Reading it would mean wanting it. One by one, Johnny introduced the rest of the squad. “That’s Ryder—computer prodigy, though he spends more time on illegal bets than hacking.” “Cole—our bomb guy. Don’t give him liquor, unless you want half the base blown up.” “Those two are Nina and Marco. Don’t let the cuddling fool you—they’ll gut a wolf before breakfast.” “Gideon—brooding type. Don’t expect small talk.” “Then there’s Old Man Harris. Lost his wife and kids to rogues. Been chasing a deathwish ever since, but the bastard won’t die.”

“I’m here because her mother asked me to make sure she survived long enough to choose her own path.” That sentence lands differently. I step slightly around Darius—not rejecting him, just needing to see. “Who are you?” I ask. The man bows his head slightly. “My name is Gideon Arkwright.” A ripple moves through the people behind me. Even Selene stiffens. Elder Rowan’s expression tightens with recognition. Cassian goes silent in a way I haven’t seen before. Gideon continues gently. “I was a strategist within the Blackwood inner circle… many years ago.”

“You can lie to everyone else if you want.” Valerius felt tension creep slowly into the air between them. But Gideon wasn’t finished. His gaze remained locked onto her face as he spoke quietly. “But my daughter recognized you immediately.” Valerius’s heartbeat suddenly faltered. Then Gideon stepped even closer. “And children,” he whispered coldly, “don’t mistake strangers for their mothers.”

I leaned against the cold brick wall, my hand trembling as I pulled my phone from my pocket and called my assistant, Maria, to come get me. The ninth time. I thought back to the ridiculous bet Julia had proposed a year ago. "Nine choices, Leona. Let's see who Isak really picks. The loser walks." The first time was at my mother's funeral. A rival family crashed the service and opened fire. Isak dove to shield Julia without a second thought. The second time was at his succession ceremony. A bomb went off, and his first instinct was, again, to protect Julia. The third, fourth, fifth time…

"No, you're Jenna. You've finally returned." Tears streamed down her face in thick rivulets. "I'm so sorry for letting you suffer for nine long years. But now, you have me, and all my love is yours. You don't need to be afraid anymore. That little wretch is gone. She got exactly what she deserved, just like that monster…" Fear coursed through Anna, making her body quake. She flailed in a desperate and weak frenzy, as if she might crumble into pieces. Mom rose, carrying a bowl of her ever-greasy stew. "Jenna, just drink a little…"

The next strike came—this one aimed at her own throat. And then— “STOP!” The voice cracked through the arena like lightning. Everything froze. The crowd turned. At the far end of the field, a figure stood at the edge of the sparring zone—fists glowing like magma, and flames blazing in her eyes. Jade. A collective gasp swept through the stands. The top-ranked applicant—the one who'd been sent into the Great Gods' domain as punishment for her sin of blasphemy—had returned unbroken. “She—she made it back from the Gods’ test?!”

I'll give that to him. “Who are you and what do you want from us?" He demanded authoritatively. I bowed my head respectfully. “My name is Gwen, I'm from Dycan and I have come in search of my mate Derrick.” “He was taken by your people.” I explained. The entire court was silent, not even a pin drop could be heard. The young king was quiet for way too long. I wondered what the problem was. Why were they not talking to me? I asked myself.
