King—the way everyone else in the room did—just Nathan.
The sound of it struck somewhere sharp in my chest before I could stop it. A small, irrational ache I felt.
Then Gina turned back to me, her expression rearranging itself into polite warmth, the kind worn like a mask. “Just business,” she added sweetly, as if we were allies sharing a harmless secret.
