"Listen, I was disappointed because of your story. You gave up---no, things made you give up." Then he patted my head. "But I respect your decision because you know that it's for the better," Mezakiel added and found myself smiling with a nod. "Really? You think letting him go and lose the gamble was better?" He grinned and shrugged. "Yes? Because if you're really not meant for each other, let go and move forward, he'll do the same thing. Then the wasted time will be lesser, the pain wouldn't be so deep and long."

He was about to portal himself home and avoid any more embarrassment. Daniel walked up to him. “Are you leaving?” “Yes!” “After one try?” “Isn’t one try enough?” Daniel stepped towards him and said, “No, it isn’t, and it wasn’t even one try because all you did was point, and I did the rest of the work. If you’re truly committed to your goal, you’ve got to keep going even if doors close against you. You will get hurt many times, a few times, or none, depending on how lucky you are, but giving up is not an option. Never is—”

It didn't help that I was unsure of my own desires. Go like go home meant giving up on the progress we'd made so far. It was an acknowledgement that the past evening was a one-time thing, a quick swerve off the road we'd been heading down, rather than a conscious choice to try something different. Go home meant giving up on gorgeous Vanessa. Meant cutting it off with cute Scarlett. In a way, it was even letting go of my newly lascivious wife. It was a surrender back to our boring suburban life.

You will feel the need to give up. Because if you do not give up ..you will get tired and you will get tired. Until you have nothing left. I guess, so I gave up is to regain strength. I thought I didn't need Kalex in my life anymore. I thought I could. but how can I, if I know in myself that I became strong is because of my love for him.

The office is in chaos right now." Lucas pulled out his phone and dialed the first name on his list. The call connected. "Partnership terminated." The voice on the other end was flat and final. He dialed again and received the same answer. He tried a third time, then a fourth. Every person who had shaken his hand just yesterday was done with him overnight.

“Austin, it’s one thing for you to be reckless and do what you please on any regular day. But today’s an important day. Stop making a fuss here. “Jade will never marry you. She doesn’t like you at all.” I sneered and flung his hand away. “Why not? I drew the short straw in front of everyone, so why can’t I marry Austin?” William said, “Because…” Something seemed to occur to him as he suddenly stopped before snorting. “Jade, are you doing this to exact revenge on me? You’re the type that holds a grudge. Even if I give in, you won’t be satisfied.”

I didn't even have the energy to say anything. My friend snapped, "Carl, have you completely forgotten the promise you made to treat her right? It's only been a few years, and you've already thrown it all out the window?" Carl didn't even bother arguing. "I've already talked to her. We'll get remarried later. What else does she want? Tell her to come over and wrap up the divorce. Wendy's done waiting." My friend stared at the phone in disbelief, about to yell, but Carl had already hung up.
