Kasen Thorne sat in the leather backseat of the Maybach, his face a stoic, unreadable mask of stone. He didn't look at the towering spires of the estate, nor did he look at the grand limestone arches. But internally, a dark, primal thrill of satisfaction thrummed through his veins. The SUV crunched to a halt on the gravel drive of Thorne Manor. The estate was a sprawling gothic monolith of black stone and narrow, watchful windows, tucked away behind a forest that felt far older than the surrounding London suburbs.
