A Marriage of Swords
Duncan roared; his voice barely audible over the apocalypse.
Makil climbed, his muscles burning, his world reduced to the rope in his hands and the raining debris. A chunk of rock glanced off his shoulder, nearly breaking his grip. He looked up. Leigh was at the top, reaching down for him.
He grabbed her hand. She pulled, her strength astonishing, hauling him onto the ledge as the world disintegrated below. The chasm was a lake of blue fire and collapsing stone. The Shattered Wheel, their digging, their fanaticism, was being consumed by the very earth they sought to break.
