Dante watched in horror as a seventy-foot pine tilted slowly forward, its roots snapping with a sound like thunder as it began to fall directly across the only exit trail. “Dante, stop.” Nolan screamed from the back leaning forward between the seats. The gate lowers completely, warm water slowly trickles out, and the inside of Estate Eclipse is steaming. I grab onto Dante and he helps me past the blocks of ice until we cross the other side of the gate.
