One caught my eye almost immediately: the nearest column appeared to have changed color. Not just color, I realized; it looked to be made of a completely different material. All these years I’d thought the massive pillars to be made from brass, judging by their coating and their sheen. The center could very well have been something stronger, of course – it probably was – with only the exterior made to be more aesthetically pleasing. Now, however, the column shone like a waxed silver, almost mirror-like. I could literally see my reflection in it, though it was distorted.

His scales are emerald green like Avani’s, but like Zephyr’s, when the sun hits them, they light up in a splash of color. “Hello, Ancalagon.”

But after a pause, she finally smiles and says, “Okay, why not?” With that, we work on everything for the next three hours. The darker the green, the stronger it is. It’s herbs—special herbs, thus the color.” My heart thundered as I looked at the white or clear gel in my hand.

It was a tall boy with dark hair and eyes a color that matched the trees surrounding us, his lips a healthy pink. His cheeks were flushed with a peach color and his eyes narrowed as he focused on the ladybug poised on my hand. "That's a beauty," he said, a slight rasp to his voice. There were purple and green colors on her skin, as if she had been smeared with paint. Slowly, more people fell down. “What’s going on here?” “Is there poisonous gas here?”

The tiny seed unfolded slightly. A faint shoot emerged. Not silver. Not gold. Not blue. Green. The first true green Ama had ever seen. The color of growing things. The color of futures. The Gardener's eyes widened. “Well…” She laughed softly. “That hasn't happened before.” Ama stared at the tiny sprout. “What does green mean?” The Gardener slowly stood. For the first time since Ama had arrived. She looked both amazed... And humbled. “It means…” She paused.

"You didn't see it? My dragon was green. Green has eaten all the red. I'm dying and you'll need to make plans to return home after I'm gone." The woman's grin turns into a full smile, which I don't understand. "I'm sorry to disappoint you but it's not just your dragon who's green." I swear my eyes bug from my face. I lift my human arms and the revulsion moves into another dimension. I am green. Fucking green. My gaze shifts to the woman and I stare back in horror.
