Shadows flickered among the rocks—too fast, too deliberate to be natural.
“They’re here,” Kael whispered, eyes scanning the cliffs. “The guardians of Selene. Not the sanctuary itself… but protectors.”
Before Aria could ask, a flurry of movement erupted from the cliffs. Figures, tall and cloaked in gray mist, descended like living shadows. Their eyes glowed a deep, eerie blue, and their weapons glinted faintly in the fading light. Each step they took left frozen footprints that shimmered and vanished.
“Stay close,” Kael warned, stepping in front of Aria and Liam. His blade gleamed with moonlight, the aura around him merging with hers. “We do not fight to kill. We fight to pass.”
