A warning light blinked as it passed, and the trio waited silently until it was gone. Only then did Abigail speak.“Every time I see one of those things, I wonder what it’d take to bring one down.” “One dream too many, maybe.” Tunde said, he looked up, past the quarry’s ridge. There it was again, the Citadel. White and gold, suspended like a god’s mirage behind the shimmer of protective fields. Its smooth towers glowed even through the smog. Somewhere in there, music played through perfect speakers, food was hot every night, and sickness… was curable.

“We’re close. The key can feel it.” When they reached the ruins, the sight was both awe-inspiring and unnerving. Crumbling stone arches and half-collapsed towers jutted out of the rocky landscape, their surfaces etched with faded carvings. The ground was littered with debris, and the faint sound of wind echoed through the empty corridors, carrying a whisper that made Emma’s skin crawl. “This is the place,” Crane said, consulting the map. “If Haverstone’s notes are accurate, the fracture is at the center of the labyrinth.”

All these reminded him of the exact state of the hinterlands, strengthening his resolve. Hades' lair as the amortals referred to it, was located in Sydney, Australia. The humans had named it 'Burning Mountain', because of a mysterious, never-quenching fire which burned from thirty meters underground up to the surface and expelled a continuous cloud of smoke through the vent, consuming the elevated plateau and leaving it bare and barren. Humans believed that the fire had been raging for over five thousand years. Well, they did not know any better because of their short life span and disconnect in history. The fire was everlasting, it had burned since time immemorial, and forever it would burn

5 down. I crept low and slowly to the entrance to Haven. I knew right where to find it but I also knew the odds that there was someone right through the entrance were good. The cave and tunnel were barely big enough for a person to get through but that doesn’t mean Kayden didn’t think to shove one of his goons in there as a blockade and a guard.

I stopped fighting it. Hades walked in the door a moment later, dressed in a deep blue three-piece suit. With his dark hair and shadow across his jawline, he was suave in appearance, both beautiful and deadly. “Good evening, Maria.” He greeted her with a partial smile and a hand on her shoulder.

Probably searching for their guards. “Oh! They are underneath the stairs. I didn’t want the guest to see them. It would look so good you know.” “How??” Hazard slurred. Savage looked more surprised, then he began running upstairs. Kenzo followed quietly counting his steps. Getting closer to Hazard, who remained rooted on spot. He stopped walking when he was close enough to him. He smirked. “You’re dying if you keep standing there. Run!” Hazard didn’t bother running down the stairs because Kenzo men were there, so he jumped down, falling on the ground, where the party was being held.

“It’s beautiful. Thank you.” “You’re welcome. We want to make sure that you are protected even if we can’t go with you. It may take us some time to get to you but after you hit the panic, we can also send allies in the areas to come too. It is even designed to withstand dark magic so it should work no matter where you are.” Jakes says to Maria. She nods and he then turns to Alpha Scott. “Now, we have some good news. While she is out making contact for the pendant, we have found what we believe may be a location for Hades.”

“Here we are.” Darkous lazy smile slipped from his face as he entered the room, disappointed in the chamber Hades had chosen to harbour the princess on her stay with him; the warm air tasting bitter on his tongue. Back at the mansion, his niece would have either stayed down in the depths of his basement, or been locked in the cage for days until the lord of hell had need of her again. And yet his brother had chosen a large open spaced chamber for her to stay in, the walls a warming earthy brown. Did Hades intend to make the girl comfortable, somehow trick her into thinking that he was reasonable? Shaking his head in confusion and perhaps annoyance, the psychopathic lord strolled towards a la

I had a faint idea what I wouldn’t like what I would hear next and true to what I thought, Chad added; “This girl… who is she?” The tingling sensation I felt trailing up my face was enough to let me know that I was blushing fiercely. I had no idea why he was so head bent on knowing who I was. I didn’t even have enough time to ponder over it because Hades turned around then. He took just one glance at me before he shook his head and looked away. “She’s Hailey, a slave I bought earlier today… and the enemy’s daughter.” “But she’s our mate.” Trent added, looking at me.

Still, I never actually saw him until today. Hades' army was led by Marcellus Riggs. Rumour has it that he is Hades’ illegitimate son. He looked at me as if he saw through the cloaking spell that Sentaya cast to protect me. He paused and froze for the moment; his gaze looked as if he was in shock and disbelief, but that was just for a second. He quickly masked his gaze to an empty, cold and impassive one in the next moment. The next thing I saw was him pointing out with the scythe towards me and murmuring some indistinct order to the demon next to him. I couldn’t hear what he said to the bloke next to him because of the clamour and melee of the grounds, which were bloodshed battlefield just
