My soul was trembling in fear. The heartbeat kept on growing, fading. Over time the sound was increasing. A dusty window from where a gust of wind came caught my attention as I moved my head following it. Just at that moment, the flashlight fell on my eyes, and I glanced back at the entrance with a minimal gaze. I noticed a shadow standing in front of me, wearing a long white blanket and holding a lantern in one hand. "ARHHHHHH!" I screamed, rivalled by the blast of thunder and rain.

Prologue Daniel's POV I went on with my life, not expecting even a tiny bit of happiness to find me, I was just living under the dark side of life. Killing, hunting monsters. No happiness, not even love. Nothing could reach my frozen soul. That is, if I had a soul.

The pounding in her head grew worse as soon as she was upright, but she pushed past it hyper-focussed on getting Cassius out of harm's way. She took another quick look around, getting a good lay of the room. Cassius had been right, all exits were well and truly covered. The Elites were using this to their advantage to bottleneck the scared vamps at the exits and taken them out easier. Others stayed in the main hall to slay those who had the balls to stay and fight. Alarmingly the remaining vamps in the room seemed to be dropping like flies, as the once white marble was now smeared red with blood. The Elites were making short work of this which meant that they were running out of time.

The silencer bored its throat as it aimed the barrel toward the top of the skull. "Hello asshole!" His voice was muffled by the black wool in front of his mouth, but his eyes could bury his opponent's. They looked at him from wide-open lids. Cohen cocked his head slowly to relieve the pressure on the gun, but Dareon followed, giving him no way out. The little shit started shaking. Xandra meanwhile helped the young thing back into her clothes, then put her own jacket on and maneuvered her out of the limo.

Bruford. “Damn it! Go, go, go! Kill all these f*ckers and 30 million will be ours!” Another team of bounty hunters wearing black combat uniforms with red leopard heads branded on their chests and backs stormed into the Hall of Evil’s training base camp, Base No. 3. They carried with them massive firepower! For a while, the place was ablaze, and people fell into pools of blood everywhere! After Team George destroyed a base camp of the Hall of Evil and received a bounty of 50 million for the hidden mission, these bounty hunter teams became even crazier!

Video! Harlan understood. He grabbed a heavy flashlight, smashed a small hole in a boarded window, and bellowed into the rain, mimicking the mercenary roughness. **<< PHOENIX COMMAND! HEAR ME! SHOW US MACK! ALIVE AND TALKING! NOW! OR NO DEAL! >>** Silence stretched. Seconds bled away. Two minutes. Then, a flicker of light from the tree line. Not a muzzle flash. The glow of a tablet screen, held aloft by a mercenary. A grainy, rain-spattered video feed appeared.

Xoel sat down and said, “Come, make yourselves comfortable.” James and Qiyana followed suit. Xoel introduced, “Forty-nine, this is the leader of the Flammae, Haleth Haineault.” Haleth intervened, saying, “You know what I’m here for, Xoel. What do you want in exchange? I’m willing to fork up whatever it is you need.”

Selena’s hand reached for the handle, but Hunter prevented her from opening the door. “No!” he slammed his hand over hers. “I promised to protect you. Teo and Tasha, with me.” He locked eyes with me, and the message was clear: Stay put. The three of them got out of the limo. Out of the dissipating mist three figures appeared. Two men and a woman dressed in black robes their faces hidden by their hoods came closer and stopped in front of Hunter and the twins flanking him. “We have no business with you, Alpha Hunter Slater. We are here for Selena. Get out of our way and no harm will come to you.” The tallest of the men said in a booming voice.

The Arbiter’s scan told him his name was Maximo Chen. The ganger wailed and laughed, spitting at the Arbiter. “You just killed half my gang, Tangina mo! You’re a fucking hypocrite Arbiter! A FUCKING HYPOCRITE” He grasped for his rifle which was just a stretch from his hand. H-6 fires a stun round to the back of his target’s head. Maximo’s body convulsed even as the rubber round knocked him out, the electrical aftershock was doing its work. H-6 stood still for a while longer, both shields were primed and ready allowing him ample time to direct his drone companions.

When only their heads were left, they were still alive. Everyone could still see their struggling heads and eyes that turned blood red from fear. In just ten seconds, the two disappeared without a trace or a sound. Not even a speck of dust was left. The other bounty hunters from the Royal Region felt their scalps turning numb when they saw this. The weaker ones could not handle such huge pressure, and they started to break down and hallucinate. To David, Harlan and the Stellar Ranked bounty hunter were nothing but ants. However, they were pretty bold. One of them dared to hurt Selena and the other dared to assault Sandy.
