Marked by fate
It’s so normal, so easy, that it almost hurts.
The domesticity of it has me smiling slightly.
“Cheers,” Xander says, clinking his glass against mine as the others lean theirs in.
“Happy birthday, darling girl,” he says, maintaining eye contact as he takes a sip.
“Happy birthday, Angel,” Tobias says, his voice quiet and reverent as we clink glasses.
“Happy birthday, sweetheart. Here’s to a wonderful year,” Lincoln says, touching his glass to mine before taking a sip from his own.
“Thank you,” I say to them all, my voice feeling a little thick as I glance around at them. For some reason, the thought of them putting together a birthday celebration for me is making me emotional.
