I set my phone down and looked at Mark playing with Harper in the yard. Sunlight filtered through the leaves, casting dappled shadows over them. The pain I once thought would last forever now seemed like a fleeting fog in the river of life. I realized then that true happiness wasn't necessarily found in grand vows or dramatic gestures. Instead, it could also be found here in this seemingly mundane life filled with effusive warmth.

It struck me and with teary eyes, I began writing a poem.
