The Hybrid Huntress
When they come for me, I want to look like I still have dignity, like all the things everyone said about me being a rabid mutt earlier weren’t true.
They stop in front of my cell, the set of them dark behind the plexiglass. Alpha Avery in front, his arms folded and his face carved from stone, but I can see the weariness rolling off of him. Dorian and Edward flank him, Dorian’s hands in his pockets, Edward glowering like the cell is a personal insult.
Behind them, in the blue-white flicker of the hall lights, Raven is surrounded by Jax, who is looking at me like just breathing is a sin, and Harold, who looks at me like he’s waiting to see if I’ll gnaw my own foot off.
