I didn't know what hurt more, the contempt in his words or the way he discarded me like trash. I felt like I was drowning, like it was impossible to breathe. Not only that, but I wanted to believe that somehow things could get better, that Gideon could love me the way I loved him.

I felt like a discarded child, cast aside for someone more desirable. Veronica's smile, Stella's smirk gleam – both seemed to mock me, rubbing salt into my open wounds. I couldn't express how I felt. The emotions swirling inside was making it harder to breathe and I found myself gasping for air and begging for all this to just end but I knew that it was far from over. Besides, nothing ever went my way before.

They stormed toward me like I weighed nothing, lifted me off the ground without effort, and tossed me out—like I was a piece of garbage that had washed ashore. Just like that, I was off the island. Thrown away. And somehow, it hurt more than I thought it would.

"Let’s just say it’s a mess." I stayed silent, my heart pounding. The ache in my chest hadn’t subsided. If anything, it had worsened. Why did I care? He didn’t even have the dignity to come throw me out himself , he sent messengers I was indeed nothing but a body to him and he devoured me when he needed to and discarded me like trash when he was done.
