An assassin lunged for Elira. Thane threw himself between them, shoving her aside. The blade slashed across his chest. Blood soaked his shirt.
His wolf snarled. His pupils flashed gold. Claws threatened to emerge, but he held them back. In one brutal motion, he snapped the attacker’s arm and drove the sword through his chest.
The remaining assassins understood now. Fear gripped them. They could killed human, but they can't defeat monsters.
The fight ended, a bloody, barely-won victory.
