" She'd completely abandoned all her pride as a mother, yet I felt nothing but disgust. I closed my eyes, my lips curling into a cold smile. "I can't cut ties with you? What if I'm dead then?" The noises in the room came to an abrupt halt. Mom lost her cool and threw herself onto my hospital bed. She shook her head desperately and cried, "No! I won't let you die! No matter what illness it is, I'll find the best doctors to help you! You can't die, Wendy!" Connor's eyes reddened as he said, "I'll definitely avenge you! I told you—I'm your brother, and I'll always protect you!"

She smiled softly understanding and I left, sprinting toward pack territory in the forests that border the town. The fight was in full swing when I arrived, the smell of blood filled the open air and I flinched as wolves flew at each other from all sides. I watched as a rust-coloured wolf barrelled toward a snow-white wolf who was looking the other way. I lunged at Rusty, transforming in mid-air and knocking him with alarming force to the right. My teeth sunk into his side and I pawed and bit until I knew he was too injured to fight, but not dead. I don't kill, I immobilize.

"That's impossible… That flash drive has already been—" She suddenly seemed to realize that she'd said something she shouldn't have and immediately shut her mouth. When Raoul saw that I'd slapped her just now, he also marched up to me, ready to fight me to our deaths. At that moment, all of the anger I'd suppressed until then exploded like a volcano. I punched him back in the face and roared, "You all keep calling me a monster and an inhuman animal, but I'm going to show you who the real monster is! You'll see what I'm talking about!"

His swings were wild, desperate. An assassin lunged for Elira. Thane threw himself between them, shoving her aside. The blade slashed across his chest. Blood soaked his shirt. His wolf snarled. His pupils flashed gold. Claws threatened to emerge, but he held them back. In one brutal motion, he snapped the attacker’s arm and drove the sword through his chest. She frowned wondering exactly what he was doing here and so now her curiosity increasing she inched a little more towards the door that was left slightly open. "You won this fight, if you keep on winning, you will find yourself getting closer" he was instructing as he gave the shirtless man/fighter a towel. Even from behind Eira couldn't help but admire his broad back and muscles. "Don't worry Mac, I will make sure to win the fights.
