BOUGHT BY CRUELEST ALPHA
I clutch my head, hair tangled in my fingers, nails digging, scraping skin, whatever, anything to ground myself.
The Warden hums. I hear it before I see the movement, soft, broken, a thread of melody through the crushing gravity. Bittersweet. So familiar it hurts. Each note is a memory, each vibration pulling against the black star, balancing. I see their eyes close, their chest heaving. They are adding joy into it, pouring in everything that’s left of love and laughter, every fragile thing that still shines.
