Stolen Fatigue: I Die in His Place

Stolen Fatigue: I Die in His Place

In just a few days, he became old, hideous, and frail, tormented day and night by unbearable exhaustion and illness. Eventually, he died alone in a dark corner of his cell from heart failure. As for me, after finally clearing my name, I stepped back into the sunlight once more. I told everyone openly that there had never been such a thing as a shortcut without a price. The orientation continued. Leading classmates who had finally woken up to the truth, I completed the remaining drills and exercises alongside them through true effort, sweat, and teamwork. When we stood together at the closing ceremony, receiving the Top Cadet Company banner from Lindsey, the entire formation erupted into hear

Dropped the Deadweight, Hit the Road

Dropped the Deadweight, Hit the Road

"Nadia... she's gone." I froze. Gone? "She died in childbirth. The baby didn't make it either." Silence. What could I even say to that? Nothing. Not for a dead woman. Not for a dead baby. He lowered his head, voice small. "Elya, I know I messed up. But now... you're all I have. I've been waiting for you." I laughed—sharp, bitter. "So what? Nadia's gone, now you need a backup wife? And you thought I'd jump at it? Ivan Brown, you make me sick."

Declared Dead, Replaced by a Fraud

Declared Dead, Replaced by a Fraud

Nora continued stabbing the hairpin into Henry's abdomen. "Now I finally realize what an absurd mistake I have made! It's only John who truly loves me. You broke his ribs. I'm guessing you even instigated me to kill his mother. You deserve to die and have a taste of your own medicine!" Nora's eyes were bloodshot. Henry was barely breathing anymore. She raised her hand high up once more, aiming for Henry's heart. "Stop right there!" I ran over and kicked the hairpin out of Nora's hand. Letting Henry die just like that would be too easy on him.

Death's Day

Death's Day

If it ever did, he would dismiss it as a mere gossip. Marcus continued staring through the windows as the greenery rushed past them, while he turned back inwardly to something that was troubling his soul. His mind told him he had made a mistake. His ego told him that what he did was right. It was not every day that one got to deal with a witch, even if it was a little boy. That wouldn’t have been a problem if he had not nearly choked because the boy, Jason was looking at him. Dean had died soon after. Problem was he didn’t know how powerful the boy was.

Stay Dead This Time

Stay Dead This Time

Stellan Montclair was alive. He shoved the lid aside and sat up in the coffin. His face was deathly white, his lips had gone purple, and his eye sockets were sunken deep. He looked like a corpse that had just crawled out of its own grave. The potion had only just worn off, and his body was still dangerously weak. Even opening his eyes took visible effort. "I'm... not dead..." The words scraped out of him, faint as a dying flame.

Until Death

Until Death

No matter the circumstances and odds against me, I am always ready to fight until death. And let me remind you that I have slain many soldiers, knights, monsters, and beasts. Don't forget how I single-handedly killed ten vicious players. I might not know the power of the Smith or anything about the so-called nectar that General Zod and the familiar voice are requesting from me. However, I am sure of one thing. I am sure that I won't die because "Tomorrow Never Dies."

Dead at Heart

Dead at Heart

All it took was a single sentence to stir her into this fury? He stepped closer, studying every subtle expression on her face in the dim night. As if he wanted to witness the pain of her accepting the truth, he deliberately said, "There's no need to be so surprised. What I'm saying is a fact. Otherwise, why would I let you stay here?" Ariel's fists trembled, but her gaze remained sharp and unforgiving. Samson didn't like seeing her like this, but he didn't mind. He leaned down toward her. "Ariel, Jayson's dead. He's not in this world anymore. You need to move on."

people are cruel to you because you allow them to.so, it's unfair that Ariel feels like people around her abused and used her, it's her fault. she should not blame them and doesn't have the right to take revenge. most books are written this way, aren't writers tired for the same usual storyline?

There are two turning points (my favorite scenes) for me. First, when Colton insisted on calling Ariel ‘Mrs. Larkin’ instead of ‘Ms. Walker.’ Second, when Jayson referred to Ariel as ‘your sister-in-law’ to Renee after Ariel got her highest score. Both happened after they were already divorced.
