“Why didn’t you tell me her name?” He swallowed hard. He looked like a man stripped bare. “I didn’t know how,” he said, stepping inside. “Maria… was my whole world. Losing her broke something in me I never could fix.” Elena pressed a hand to her chest, fighting tears. “She was my sister.” Henry’s breath caught. The silence that followed was so heavy the room itself seemed to sink. “Elena… I swear to you, I didn’t know. She… she never told me she had a sister.”

Henry did not want to see me talk to me because he felt embarrassed that he had 'abandoned' me when in all truth, all I wanted to do right now was be on the safety of my bed. Daniel was dozing off in the car the entire time, completely unaware of his environs. We had paid for the room we stayed in and hadn't been questioned in the slightest. We got to the mansion half an hour later and it was thirty minutes past one in the morning. I knew neither of our dads would still be up so late so it was a good pass for me. "Looks like you'll need help with your brother in law." Henry said when it was time to part ways and head into our bedrooms.
