Hearing the sound from the shower, Karl could not help but imagine things and gulped. He casually picked up Danielle’s book on the nightstand. It was an exercise book, and the first half of the book was almost filled. As Karl flipped through it, he saw her doodles in some corners. A little blue elephant wearing a bow was looking up at a lion. The baby elephant seemed small, whereas the lion was tall and mighty… On the next page, he saw that the lion was trying to give the baby elephant a piece of meat, but the elephant was looking at the bananas on a tree off to the side.

Opposite and sides of the room sat tall shelves carrying textbooks, all medical. He was always studying. I stopped at the table, looking over the papers. Then I took interest on a particular white sheet of paper sticking out of a large red covered book. On the paper's protruded side was a drawing of some creature. I hate to admit that it actually looks like a werewolf but it did. Picking it out from the book and up to my face, I could clearly see the picture now. It's an image of a werewolf, it's body parts fully labelled.

I'll surely pass out, then pass away. As he left, I took a sweep across his room, biting my lips, wondering how he would pull it off, you know, getting my stuff. Did he even know where I kept them? Gosh. I stood up and began to look around, then saw a drawing book. He drew? Curiosity got the best of me and I began to go through it. There are drawings of the house, more of us. In the bottom drawer, buried under a bunch of pencil sharpeners and other tools, there’s a leather bound book. Almost like a journal. There’s a design on the front of it that nearly reminds me of the Midnight Protector’s logo but far more intricate. It’s hand sewn in the same color as the leather.

I flip the book open and realize it’s not a book after all. It’s more like a diary, with blank pages at the start. Like an old, forgotten sketchbook. I flip page after page. There are drawings on it. The edges of whatever face was drawn have faded, leaving remnants of dull colors and disappearing silhouettes. Confusion marks my forehead as I continue to flip. “ what is this now? What am I supposed to know from these fading drawings? What— ” Another page flips. Everything freezes. “ What is the meaning…of this? ” I try to convey my annoyance, but my voice comes out slower than I intended.

I would never have guessed. The document was long and boring and had something to do with some kind of bank transaction. I quickly got bored and looked further in the drawer. I also noticed a picture in there. It was about the size of a passport photo but I could see a man, a woman and a little boy. They looked like a happy little family. The man and woman looking lovingly into each others eyes and the little boy smiling widely at the camera with two of his front teeth missing, adorable. There was also a book in the drawer which Ipulled out. I quickly flipped through the book and I saw a lot of drawings, so I took my time and opened the first page and I saw a drawing, of a little girl.
