"What does your new friend look like, Heidi?" Heidi proudly lifted her drawing. It was a crude, childish sketch of a very tall figure standing between two giant green trees. The figure was colored completely in dark gray and black crayons, but the most unsettling part was the face. Heidi had used a bright yellow crayon to draw two massive, perfectly round circles for the eyes.

But one caught my eye: a pink book, which looked completely out of place. It was tucked between two thick volumes, its cover wrinkled and faded at the edges. My curiosity got the better of me, and I found myself reaching for the book. On the cover, was a cartoon illustration of a bear and a tiger. A children's book? Why did someone like Xeros have a book like this inside his study? I flipped it open, turning the pages absentmindedly as some words began to register in my mind with a vague sense of familiarity. As I turned another page, my fingers brushed against something thick… a folded piece of drawing paper folded in half and tucked carefully between two pages.

Wolves mid-transformation, but wrong. Twisted. Their bones breaking in ways that shouldn't be possible.. Notes scribbled in tight handwriting.

Apparently the best books are always hidden at the bottom. One in particular took my attention. The cover was a soft purple, but that wasn't what made me instantly interested in it. It was the fact that my name was printed on the spine, in italic font. There was no author name, or any illustrations, as I curiously pull the book from its slot. I stare at the book for a few moments, wondering if I should actually open it. There is no way this would be about me. When I turned the first page, I was wrong. Right there, was an intricate drawing of me-just my face. Under the picture, there was a question mark, as if whoever had drawn this, didn't know it was me.

" I took out the book at one and it levitated itself and its pages flipped at such speed to an unknown page. The next act raised tension, my palm getting colder and sweaty. The pages slowly began to fill its empty sheets, drawings and writings, a few in English and the rest in sigils and signs. The first drawing I saw, was a three headed beast, it looked like a hound, or a dog. Drawn as a black and white art, shades of the body noticeably seen, bringing out details, the saliva dripping from its flappy mouth. I looked underneath the drawing and I saw a tag. "Cerberus, Hireling Of Hades." "Did that book just flip?" Asked Maria. Concern drawn over her face as she slowly walked closer and peeped

She felt the breath leave her lungs. “I’ve drawn this,” she whispered. “I know,” Theo said. “I saw the sketch in your book.” “But this isn’t mine.” Her fingers trembled as she turned the paper over. “I didn’t make this. Not consciously.”

Like she⁠ was living inside a life she wasn’t sure‌ she deserved. She⁠ sto‌p⁠ped in front o‌f Noah’s‌ draw‍ing⁠s‌ pinn⁠ed near the kitchen‌. ‍Crayon stick figures. Cars. A messy drawing of a‍ll three of them holding‍ hands.‌ She s‍miled softly. Then something caught her attenti⁠on.⁠ A‌ small note att‍ached to one of the drawings. ‍She pulled it cl⁠o‌s⁠er.

Noah was on the floor with the drawing unrolled in front of him. He had added something in the lower right corner. Small. Specific. We crouched down to look. It was a house. Not Captain Fossil's house. A house. With a pitched roof and four windows and a garden. And three figures at the right side. A tall one. A medium one. A small one with a fossil in his hand. But different from the drawing on the kitchen table. In this version the three figures were inside the house. Not at the right side.
