She received an offer from one of the biggest fashion companies in New York. They want to merge with V&C Fashion House.” For a moment, no one spoke. Then Aunt Margaret’s face lit up. “Oh, Elena!” she exclaimed. “That’s wonderful news!” “It really is,” Dorian added with a smile. “Congratulations. That’s a huge achievement.” I smiled faintly before shaking my head. “I turned it down.”

Now, I became more confused. Suddenly, I remembered a word from Max’s sentence. “Wait. Alpha, what did you mean by he tried to reject her? Did he reject her or not?” I looked at the three people in the room. “No,” Max answered, and I felt my heart fell. In the end, he didn’t reject her. “Did it work?” “Yes,” I began, then paused. A thoughtful frown creased my brow. “I think so. It’s a new creation. It could use improvement.” The siblings exchanged a look and nodded, accepting that with far more seriousness than it probably deserved. Maxon’s sigil ring chimed softly a moment later. He glanced down, then sighed. “I have to go.” He stood and turned toward me. “If you’re still willing to consider my request, you can find me at House Vitae. Any time.”

' Max asked out of the blue forcing an angry growl to escape my mouth. ' I'd be stupid if I wasted my time thinking about him. I could see he's nothing but a rejected freak, no one wants him so why should I?' Max didn't want me to hurt him but I would have if he continued his unwelcome stay here. It wasn't a bad choice for me to reject him, I just didn't feel anything for him and I didn't want a mate. Why would I want to be tied down to one person when I could be fucking anyone I wanted?
