Damn, you’re impressive.” A fork spun lazily between my fingers while I tilted my lips in mock amusement. “Want me to list your special hobbies too, Professor?” His head dipped in a quiet nod, attention still fixed on his plate. “Drawing. Sculpting. Reading.” He took another bite, brows drawn together in concentration before answering seriously.

“Anything. Hobbies. Favorite food. Embarrassing childhood stories. Whatever you want to share.” I wrap my hands around my latte, using the warmth to steady myself. “I don't really have hobbies. School keeps me pretty busy.” “There has to be something. Everyone has something they do when they're not drowning in textbooks.” “I read,” I offer. “Romance novels, mostly. The kind with happy endings that feel impossible in real life.” “Escapism.” “Is that bad?” “No. It's human.” He takes a sip of his coffee. “We all need to escape sometimes. My escape is hockey. On the ice, everything else disappears. It's just movement and strategy and the game.”

“What’s your hobby?” “Do I have one?” I raised a question. “Well, everyone does. You must have something you truly enjoy doing,” “Hmmm… reading?” My brows creased. “Yes. That must be it. I love reading,” “What type of books are you into? Fiction? Nonfiction? Magazines? BL…” “Fiction,” I asserted, cutting him short. “Especially romance. It helps me live in the world I could only desire to live in with Jeremy. The kind of love and affection I crave exists only in fiction,”

Not that I give a fuck anyways. I decided to pick up a book just to kill some time before I go ahead and sleep. I've been getting really interested in reading stories, it used to be my favorite hobby while I was a child but then I ran out of time to actually read my favorite books. Lately I've been getting more free time so I can finally pick up my long lost hobby again.

And if reading does not work, then I will take a walk, a long walk. The things I love to do; writing a story, reading books, drawing a portrait, running on an open field, working out at home, drinking coffee, star gazing, admiring the sunset, sitting under a big tree and enjoying the wind blows against my skin and hair, falling in love with music and plainly looking at the sky, I always prefer to do them alone.

I laughed, covering my mouth. "Let me finish, please," he said a little seriously. After I raised my hands in surrender, he continued, "You already know that I am a business major, and I go to NYU. For hobbies, I enjoy weightlifting, running, and biking. I also enjoy reading a little." "A little?" "Yeah, a little. Reading isn't so much fun." "Wrong!" I argued. "With reading, you can live a million lives. I love it, actually."

As we waited for our food to arrive, Adrian suddenly spoke up, "I like to read." I turned to look at him, surprised, "Oh?" He nodded, "You asked what I liked to do in my free time. I read. Or workout," he told me. I nodded in understanding. "What kind of books do you like to read?" I asked him, curious about his preference for literature. "Thrillers, mysteries, that kind of stuff," he replied, leaning back against the couch cushions. "I love a good mystery," I said, my mind wandering to the countless books I had read in that genre, "I never would have pegged you for a fiction guy."

Jean: “No problem. Good you messaged me today. What are your plans for the day?” Marie: “Nothing much. I studied a little, and I think that is what I am going to do.” Jean: “Take a break! Your holidays have just started. Stop studying.” Marie: “Studying is my favorite hobby. Taking a break from it is not possible.” Jean: “How can studying be a hobby?” Marie: “The same way playing basketball can be a hobby.” Jean: “Oh please! Playing is very different from studying.” Marie: “If you say so. Haha. What will you do today?”
