There was something about waiting for him to make a move, for him to do something. The silence only added to my excitement. When time passed and I still didn’t feel him, I held my breath. He should have touched me by now, he should have touched me by now. Another second passed with nothing and I fought the urge to open my eyes. Curiosity tempted me to see what he was up to, to see what he was looking at but I held back.

*** I assumed the frigid water woke me, or it would have been the cloud of black billowy smoke, but overall, I wished I had stayed asleep. The smell of burning fuel and the feel of crisp water poured memories onto me like an ice bucket. I came to with a gasp, my head swirled as I struggled to gain consciousness. The scene splayed out in front of me brought my cereal bar for breakfast up my throat. Dismembered bodies, luggage, and part of the plane floated in waist-deep water. The smell of fire burned my nose while I tried to move but the seat in front of me trapped my ankle.

Something that made my breath catch for a different reason. I closed my eyes for a second, trying to push it down. I felt him shift slightly, just enough that his face was closer now, his breath brushing faintly against my temple. “Breathe,” he murmured. I tried. I really did. But it came out uneven. The footsteps outside shifted again. My grip tightened on his shirt without thinking. My body tensed completely. Seconds stretched. And then—the sound of footsteps moving away. My lungs burned as I finally let out a breath I hadn’t realized I was holding. But I didn’t move. None of us did, because we couldn’t be sure.

When I am halfway under, I clench my eyes shut and held his hand in a death grip. "Oh God, Christian. I can't." "You can. I know you can. We are almost there, I got you." "Please don't let go." "Never. I promise." The further I go the more my feet lift off the ground. I kick keeping myself up. Christian holds the curve of my torso while I grip his shoulders. He is standing tall and rigid. His hold on me is unmovable. My legs are floating behind me and I don't exactly know what they feel like but it's so good.

-Skylar- Suddenly, the pain stopped and everything around me looked completely different. Not in the sense that I was in a new environment, the way I was seeing everything was different. It was like I had a new pair of eyes; everything was much sharper. My nose filled with the most beautiful scent, cinnamon, my nose followed the scent, landing on Aspen. I looked at him, only to see him looking at me with complete and utter shock. I tried to get out some words, wanting to ask what was wrong, but nothing came out apart from a howl. Why was I howling?

Ellie said controlling her breathing from the tight grip “Let go of me you son of…” “Shh” He breath down her neck, her back was to his front, her legs barely touching the ground making her Shiver down to her bone
