As we soon started to call them, the chimeras came too fast, too unexpected, and too strong. Barely having time for a counterattack, their attacks spread all over the Earth. Appearing all over, some in cities, some in the counties, and a few even in the middle of the ocean, they move fast and within only a few months, entire nations are reduced to nothing more than burning trash.

I'm nothing to them! With the room empty, I surge towards Bryce's unconscious form on the bed, carefully extracting the bloated leeches and placing the creatures into a jar the quack doctors left, filled with other parasites. Gross! Bryce's skin color is still pale, and there are new wounds are on his inner-arms, caused by the fucking blood-letting. Fucking idiots! “What?” Her eyes stayed fixed on the dark creature. “It remembers the Moonborn.” The ship fell silent. Even the ocean suddenly felt colder. Gabriel’s expression hardened. “What exactly is that thing?” Lyra answered quietly. “A Hollow.” The name alone sounded wrong. Ancient. Dangerous. Trevor slowly raised his hand. “I don’t like the name already.” “Nobody asked,” Cassian muttered. Lyra stepped closer to the ship edge carefully. “The Hollows were created during the first Moonborn war.”

And then— My eyes caught it. A heading. “Hollow.” My heart thudded. I leaned closer. The first line read: Hollow: A power channeled from beyond the living. The air heavier. Elara?!

But what use was steel against something like this? The void writhed, twisting and unfurling like the tendrils of some unseen entity. The whispers grew deafening, echoing in Elior’s skull, in Sienna’s, in the very bones of the earth. And then, the voice returned. "We are the Hollow." The tendrils stretched toward them. The Null appeared beside the sanctuary wall again, darkness tearing through reality around its form. And for the first time since arriving— Seraphine looked afraid. The Null spoke only one sentence. “The outer civilizations have detected Earth.” The mountain range trembled instantly. Far beyond the fractures, enormous shadows moved behind the silver cracks in the sky.
