HOLDEN’S POINT OF VIEW We all sit around the large table in the Council Room, while Father paces around. The ranked wolves – Alpha Michael, Luna Daphne, Beta Ricardo, Gamma Linda, and Delta Adrew -, along with the pack’s official Moonseer, Elder Johnson, are collectively known as the High Council, the ones responsible for all decisions in the pack. They’re often joined by the future ranked wolves, so today, Nick, Rhys, Sally, Olivier, and I are here too.

And Aaron and I held seats as Heroes of the Void, special positions given to those who'd journeyed beyond existence itself. We'd tried to decline. We were seventeen. We didn't know how to govern.

We followed him through a set of double doors and into a large room with a round table, where nine people were already seated. “Ah, Alpha Xavier. Ms. Blackwood. How nice of you to finally join us,” said Council Member Edward. “I shall introduce the rest: Ashlyn, Madison, Blaze, Joseph, and Michael. We are the Official Council of the United States—chosen by the Moon Goddess herself,” Edward announced proudly. Xavier and I bowed respectfully and took our seats. I immediately felt Alpha Roman’s piercing gaze. He was glaring at me while Luna Abigail tried to distract him. Council Member Ashlyn cleared her throat.

The front circle consists of Queen Leana, Queen Lily, and Beta Riley. The back circle consists of Luna Angel, Luna Grace, and Luna Cara. Even as an Alpha, I can feel the power radiating off of them.
