CHAPTER ONE Annika’s POV In the chant of the black night, the stars were the choir, they were nights singing in an unusual pattern, singing a tone of death. Few minutes past ten, the once-cleared skies had transformed into a vast expanse of jet-black as the night laid down in a blanket of darkness.

I even saw Vixie fall to the ground, if Vixie was a human she would most likely be crushed because of the damage Fin did to her. Fin slowly calmed down and turned to me, he immediately ran closer to me and snatched me from Leana. "Clementine ..." Her tears flowed and touched my cheek. I just smiled at her and wiped the tears from her eyes. "I .... it will be .... well ..... Everything." I said with a smile and touched his cheek. "Don't close your eyes do you understand? Let's go home, let's go home to vampire high." He says. I nodded. "Clementine do you understand? Don't ever close your eyes if I don't get angry." He said so I laughed.

She didn't know what to think. "Come," he said, taking her hand. "I'll show you around." He led her through the clearing, toward a massive stone castle that rose from the forest floor. The castle was ancient and imposing, its walls covered in ivy and its towers reaching for the sky. "This is my home," he said. "This is where you'll learn about your new life." Amelia felt a wave of nausea wash over her. She didn't know what to expect. She didn't know what awaited her in this new world. She only knew that she was pregnant, that the father was the Lycan King, and that her life was about to change forever.

And maybe something beginning to feel dangerously like love. A distant howl shattered the moment. Both of us froze. Another answered. And another. Auren appeared at the edge of camp, face pale. “The monsters are moving.” The warmth vanished. Reality returned. The Blood Moon was still coming. The First Wolf was still missing. And somewhere in the darkness, something ancient had started hunting. But as Kael’s hand found mine again, holding tight as we stared into the night, I realized one thing: Whatever came next, I wouldn’t face it alone.

She was still in Sebastian's arms who carried her inside the small house. "Your house is so small" Sebastian complained bitterly as his eyes craned the small but neat house. The house was completely dark, probably the power was out,but Sebastian could see quiet clearly with his vampiric side. "I'll go see if I can get the power on" Adia offered as she made way to leave his arms,but he held her even tighter. "Stay put, I'll take care of that" he whispered to her making way to her room using her scent to find his way.

Then another. She jumped. “What was that?” “My steward,” I said. “Sebastian Mortayne. He sleeps beside me.” Her eyes widened. “You have two vampires in your basement?” “Yes.” “Fantastic.” She stood. “I’m moving to the car.” “Do so,” I said mildly, “but you’ll freeze before dawn.” “Then what am I supposed to do?” I met her eyes. “Stay. Quietly.” --- The silence stretched. The house creaked.

She was one of the first ever to utilize a safe house and was now a true willing donor to a young vampire whose turning had been sanctioned only this year. I resisted the urge to pick BJ up and feel her weight in my arms, to listen to the regular beats of her heart, to smell her baby scent and to feel the soft brush of her blond curls. After closing her door, I went to my bedroom and washed away the makeup and then changed into lounging pajamas. Moments later I heard the Pack's motorcycles. Jason's and Tyler's bikes continued down the private road that led to their cottage while Paul's bike stopped at the circle driveway in front of our house.

By the time I got back to the packhouse, it was already after dark and I went into the living room where Lucas, Jude and Aria were watching the News. I wasn’t wrong about the riots. Cities all over the country were going up in flames. They were actually filming humans being attacked and killed by vampires. I was watching Lucas as he was fixated on the TV and I could see how intensely he was watching the TV. But it was now sunrise, and the vampires were running from the scenes of these riots. Running back to their hideouts so they didn’t burn in the sun. That was the only reprieve that we were going to have at the moment.

He had been trying to tell her something before he teleported her, but even till this moment, she couldn’t put together what it was. The witch’s council in Rome had found their dead bodies later with three dead Alphas, eleven omegas, and a lot of betas, and then her grandmother had come to pick and return her to Nigeria, back to the life her father had run away from. “Hey, it’s okay.” Boma drew her tighter into him as he felt the myriad of emotions seeking to devour her, softly nuzzling her neck. His breath on her skin sent shivers through her body, and the heat that started from deep within her loins took her thoughts away from her parents back to the present.

The heavy wooden door opened slowly, revealing a sliver of darkness that widened into the mansion's vast entry hall. My heart hammered against my ribs. Caden stood there, looking impossibly calm. He wore dark pants and a loose white shirt, sleeves rolled up, showing strong forearms. His eyes, dark and sharp, met mine, and a slow, unsettling smile spread across his face. "Right on time, Maeve," he said, his voice a low rumble that filled the huge, echoing space. "Come in. Don't be shy."
