The faint hum of the distant voices and clatter from the few remaining patrons below couldn’t shake the heavy weight of uneasiness that had settled over her. Though the bleeding had stopped, the hurting from her miscarriage still excruciating. Layla was still speaking, her voice was insistent, but Ava’s attention had already slipped away. And suddenly she felt her hair standing up, her eyes had gleamed red like a direwolf but she couldn't see it, neither could Layla as she was facing outside of the window backing Layla. Something was gnawing at the back of her mind, a strange prickle of instinct. Perhaps it was the lingering after effect of the trauma, or perhaps it was just exhaustion.

As if the biggest hazard in the garden had needed underlining from the other side of a decade. I closed the book partway and pressed the page’s edge to my lip. The paper tasted like time and rotten lemons. I looked at the door, half expecting it to open on a woman in a velvet robe saying “put that down, darling, you’ll ruin your taste for despair.” But no woman was there. Just Elky with eyes glued to the security monitors. Just the house and the rain and the lamp that had decided to sputter at the worst possible sentence.

But the moment I touched him, he recoiled—like I was laced with wolfsbane. He pushed past me as he bolted into the bathroom where the sounds of violent retching echoed. I was left standing, a wave of shame washing over me. I had planned everything—the red wine, the music, the underwear, the perfume. I had envisioned a perfect night, but Lucas couldn't even bear to touch me. Why? I turned to the mirror, searching for an answer in my reflection. Behind me, the gagging continued, each heave slicing deeper, over and over. It was as if my mate was vomiting out his revulsion for me.

The blood moon hung low over Ashfang camp, casting an eerie red glow that bled through the towering pines. Shadows twisted and lengthened, the forest around us alive with whispered fears and restless spirits. It was a night heavy with ancient power — and a night that promised no peace. I stood at the edge of the clearing, the weight of the pack pressing behind me, their eyes reflecting firelight and uncertainty. The pup inside me stirred with a steady heartbeat, a steady pulse I clung to amid the growing chaos.

The lady flicked her fingers, and he suddenly felt an extensive amount of energy getting out of his body; he was feeling light and relaxed. Again, he heard the eerie chants of this woman, and for a moment, he thought that his imagination was getting out of hand when the lady vanished from his sight in just a blink. And before he could even react, his eyes pulled him to doze off. THE sight of dried palm leaves roofing came to view when Eleand woke up. He was dumbfounded upon realizing that he was inside a small room with the smell of fresh flowers. He was not sure of how long he had been asleep.

He flashed us a cryptic smile. I gulped hard, eyeing the house. It looked truly haunted, occupying a significant space on the side of the dock. The windows and walls looked as though they had been forgotten through time. Giant bats and gargoyles manned the threshold and roof. “We can choose another booth,” Liam said when I kept eyeing the house. Shaking my head, I tugged him back when he was about to leave. “No,” I stated. “Let’s go. This is perfect.”

This was the most content I've been in my entire life. "Twin gifts" I whispered to the books as I walked threw to the back and found more tables and behind them were more vertical rows of book cases under the balcony. After the first set of shelves it was pitch black and I wondered what how much further these shelves really went. I walked over to them and seen all the books were dark green and made out of a soft scale material I ran my fingers over them and felt each bump. Just as my curiosity was bout to walk me into the darkness a large red book came dancing into my vision startling me, I took a few steps back letting it pass me. I watched as it floated slowly slightly bouncing in the air.

Their class had already started and everyone was listening to their teacher while Sam peered out the window he saw the tree house outside the classroom. "Claire ..., I hope what I heard isn't true." Sam thought. She was surprised to see the black shadow in the tree house. "What is the shadow doing here?" Sam whispered. The black shadow has long lived in the tree house. Sam didn’t know that the black shadow she saw in the tree house and the black shadow in their house were different. The black shadow in the tree house was so bad. While Sam was looking at the black shadow in the tree house, suddenly one of her classmates passed by her so she lost sight of the black shadow.

Black as the darkest night hair against a crisp linen pillow, brown skin against a blindingly white sheet, and tiger’s eyes burning with deliberate cruelty and triumph into hers. In horrified rejection of the imagery that had sprung into her mind, Lara Anderson shuddered violently, dimly aware that she was still in the grip of severe shock. Abruptly, she was dredged from her turmoil by the insistent shrill of the telephone in the hall. Reluctantly she answered the summons, carefully shutting the lounge door behind her so that her father was not disturbed.
